Still no .22 LR at Front Royal Walmart as of ~0745 today. Plenty of 30-06, 17 HMR, .410. even some .270. No 9mm or .45 though.

$8/50 on Remington .22 LR if I remember correctly. They had some cans of 325 and a brick for $139. I think I am going to backorder somewhere for myself as I don't need it for tomorrow/today.

I had bought ahead just a few rounds thinking there might be a shortage, but I NEVER DREAMED it would come to pass that you couldn't buy .22LR. I'm lucky enough not to be plumb out, but I'm afraid to shoot what I do have until I can see my way clear to getting more.
This thread got me to thinking about this, and I opened up a box I'd been saving for a while.
I think I'll share a little AMMO PORN with you guys:
Sort of a "taps and brass" picture, if you will

Can anyone point in the direction of 5.56 Ammo? I know it is hard to come by, but I would like to pick some up if possible.
Thanks

I use AmmoSeek (
http://ammoseek.com/?gun=rifle&cal=113&noblanks=1), but IMO there's nothing worth picking up right now. Keep an eye out on that link, and pick up anything that suits your fancy as soon as you can. Basically anything below $0.50 a round disappears within minutes.
If you'd rather try to stay on top of specific retailers and attempt to beat the rush, Cabela's and Palmetto State Armory have had decent supplies and don't overcharge too much, Natchez SS has had decent supplies but not very good deals when you consider their limits and their shipping charges (generally around $20, which is not good when they'll only ship you 100 rounds at a time).

Folks,
I just hit my local Walmart at the Manassas Mall, and the assistant manager (not regular guy) just stocked the case with gobs of stuff. I didn't buy any of the Tulammo or PPU because I don't know anything about that stuff.
Tulammo
223
7.62
9mm
380
40
45
PPU
380
9
40
45
Winchester
380 100 rounds
38 100 rounds

Thanks for posting that Glockem. I stay away from Tula as well...steel cases just don't shoot well (for me) in my pistols -- PPU on the other hand performs flawlessly. Now if WM or anywhere else could/would also stock some .22 LR.......sigh.

I just fought my way through two hours of S-L-O-W servers and crashing checkouts to score 800 rounds of .22LR at Palmetto. (I spent five hours over the weekend and finally gave up.) I like the store, but they must have the crappiest hosting on the web. I can't recall how many times I tried to claw my way through the slow checkout process, only to have my cart sold out by the time I got to the order confirmation.
Midway's getting just as bad, too. Get an email notification, click it immediately, and the ammo is already sold out.
I wish the speculators would hurry up and max out their credit cards. Some of us just want to go shooting!

Gander Mt. in Kernstown (Winchester) had some 5.56 and 7.62 on the shelf today, but it probably won't last long. They also had two bulk dry boxes of Fiocchi .17 hmr.

Is PPU good ammo for 9mm & 45, especially for the Glock family and Beretta family of pistols? It was really tough for me to leave it on the shelf at Walmart on Sunday morning, as I have no experience with that stuff and I know the Tulammo is somewhat sketchy to use in pistols because of the metal casing. So what's the scoop on the PPU ?

I have been in 6 Walmarts (some several times) this week. Along with Dick's twice , a True Value , and Liberty in Hopewell. Have found more Ammo than in the last 2 months. I have been buying everything that I am allowed per Visit. Even Calibers I do not shoot. I have 3 shooting buddy's that do the same , then we barter our findings...It keeps us in Ammo and allows us to continue to shoot. I bought just over $550.00 this week alone. The worst thing is the limit restrictions !!!

some of us don't have deep enough pockets to be buying $550 worth of ammo a week.

Even though I do buy a lot of Ammo...I don't buy $550 worth very week. I did see more on the shelves this week than in the past couple months. I trade a lot with friends and YES I do hoard ammo as much as anybody. I also shoot ...probably more than most because of having several good places to shoot where I don't have to pay range fee's and purchase ammo at Ranges.
The way it is today , all that I am saying is You have to buy it when you see it. Having several buddy's always buying ammo really helps too !
