"Strong and bitter words indicate a weak cause"- Victor Hugo
I don't think ALL of a group should be looked down upon the actions of a few.
Otherwise, we'd be a horribly racist nation considering the statistics on crime, and who commits it.
Face facts, we have some good LEO's, but the bad one's make news. They're people. Just like us. And we don't all view things the same, or have the same reactions... It's just the good ones have to find the strength to call out the bad ones.
It probably took YEARS before I could bluntly say "That sumbeyatch should NOT own a loaded weapon." Because I don't want to cast gunowners overall in a bad light.
Same for Cops I suppose.

Re: More injustice from cops
The article from the 'Police State' website leaves out a number of facts in the case. For example she had pled guilty to possession of pot with intent to distribute, and she was 100 miles out of her way if her point of origin and destination were as she said.
The link to a copy of the court decision was pasted at the bottom of the article.
http://www.thenewspaper.com/rlc/docs/20 ... osture.pdf
I don't see any allegations that she was injured, abused or harmed in any way, and the Court of Appeals cites the applicable law and judicial precedent for their decision which support the legality of the border patrol agent stopping her.
This might make for a good legal debate, but there are no facts that support an accusation against the Border Patrol officer. Rather, it looks like she was carrying pot in some quantity greater than a casual user would have, hence 'intent to distribute'.
Perhaps the OP here did not read the court decision and relied on the scanty information and opinionated wording in the article.

Well oleman, no I didn't look up anymore about the case. What you fail to realize is how I was using the first part as my example. She could've had dead bodies in her truck but what got me was that she seemed suspicious because she had her hands on the correct spot on the wheel and that her windows were tinted! What was also strange was how he visually percepted this person going 60mph down the road in the opposite direction. Now I haven't seen the road or read anything about how the highway was set up, but maybe it was only a two lane road and they were closer. I still believe that there is more to this than the public will ever know about but that is strange since the system would never lie right?OleMan wrote:Perhaps the OP here did not read the court decision and relied on the scanty information and opinionated wording in the article.

Re: More injustice from cops
I'm of the belief that the police are mostly intent on doing the right thing. I'm also sickened by the obvious cover-ups when they do cross the line. Their collective failure to "police" themselves adds fuel to the fires of claims of corruption and conspiracy theories.
How many times have you seen a police agency actually admit that an officer simply screwed up and over-reacted?

It looks like the NYPD has some real issues happening over the last few weeks. 3 shooting involving Police and alchohol, 3 DUIs in 27 hours the week before.

Ten months after the accident, after a Sheriff’s Office internal investigation, Quiles admitted that his first statements were wrong and that he was at fault for the accident. Quiles was suspended for nine days for the accident, but never punished for his false report, despite, WITI notes, “a previous history of discipline for filing reports written by someone else.”
Even though Quiles has admitted fault and the district attorney has decided to not file charges against Weyker, she is still waiting for the county to pay her mounting medical bills, which her attorney says could top one million dollars. Ms. Weyker has filed a complaint against the arresting deputy and may file a civil rights lawsuit against the county.

Simply stated - You apparently did not do any due diligence. That would have consisted of researching the available facts of the case, the most obvious of which is the Court of Appeals decision. You didn't read it, but I did read it and found facts that were missing from the web site piece that you relied upon, and I reached an entirely different conclusion than you. The case has been adjudicated three times in Federal courts and the young woman is healthy and unharmed, but has pled guilty to possession with intent. Not a lot more to say about it unless it is taken to the US Supreme Court.Newgunguy wrote:Well oleman, no I didn't look up anymore about the case. http://www.delawareonline.com/story/new ... t/8523177/Back in September of 2011, Seaford, Delaware resident Reginald Johnson was pulled over by police officers while driving on the night of his 43rd birthday. The officers believed he was somebody else, and after tasing him and putting him in handcuffs, they realized they didn’t have the right guy. Still, the officers arrested him.
When the officers, Cpl. March D. Russell and “Officer Mills,” pulled Johnson over, they immediately asked him to get out of his car, and without even giving him a chance to respond, they shot him with the taser gun.
"As can be seen on the video, a total of 14 seconds elapsed from the time defendants first requested that plaintiff exit the vehicle and the time plaintiff was shot with defendant Russell's Taser," said Johnson’s attorney Stephen Norman in court documents.
During the arrest, Johnson argued that he had done nothing wrong, and surveillance video shows the moment that the officers realized their mistake.
"Dude, we got the wrong guy,” said one officer while placing Johnson in the police car.
“Someone drop the dope in here,” said another officer, joking about how they should plant drugs in Johnson’s car.
Johnson was ultimately arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and arrest, but after the details of the incident became known, the charges were dropped. Johnson then proceeded to file a federal lawsuit against the officers, and now, he has finally settled with the Seaford Police Department for $270,000.
“By putting that much money on the table, they recognize their officers were out of line there,” said Norman in a statement following the settlement.
They kept their jobs; shocked?Norman said there were no settlement terms demanding training or other non-monetary measures from Seaford. Norman said he hopes that exposing the bad behavior of the Seaford police in this incident – along with the financial pain associated with the payout – will put pressure on the city to change the way Seaford police operate.

"If someone with a gun stops you and takes your money -- would you call police? What if the person who takes your money also has a badge?
Some people in Humboldt County, tongue-in-cheek, call it "highway robbery."
One deputy in particular is being singled out for his practice of pressuring travelers to abandon their money or face losing their cars as well. The I-Team has obtained exclusive dash-cam video from one of these drug interdiction stops. While no drugs were found, that didn't stop the deputy from grabbing the cash.
"How much money you got?" Humboldt County Deputy Lee Dove can be heard asking on the video.
Dove can be seen dropping cash on the hood of the car."
Yeah but it's only a FEW BAD APPLES RIGHT!

Re: More injustice from cops
It's disturbing enough that they made a mistake and instantly tasered the wrong guy, threw him to the ground, and manhandled him. They ask for respect, yet they treat people that way? Respect is earned, not demanded at the point of a gun.Back in September of 2011, Seaford, Delaware resident Reginald Johnson was pulled over by police officers while driving on the night of his 43rd birthday. The officers believed he was somebody else, and after tasing him and putting him in handcuffs, they realized they didn’t have the right guy. Still, the officers arrested him.

But what's even more disturbing is when the cop blames him for not cooperating, and then furthermore, when they have the temerity to charge him with a crime. Unbelievable.
So in summary - the cops screw up big time, but instead of admitting it, they wind up blaming an innocent person. I get it - cops aren't perfect and make mistakes - but they need to put on their big boy pants and admit it when it happens.
*****
As a cyclist, the link below disturbed me. Watch the video. Same situation as above - a cop brutally and violently assaults a cyclist for no reason and without provocation, then charges the cyclist with assault. The cop then lied about it to support his phony charges against the cyclist. In this case, justice was only served because a bystander happened to record the incident. Unbelievable:

More states like Indiana should pass a law to where if these NAZI'S break into the wrong house and get killed, then oh well! I just would like to start seeing more people open up on these thugs for this stuff, if they are going to endanger the lives of others, then why should myself or anyone else give a damn about their lives or how it will affect their family!
Oh and ratherfish, I haven't had any run ins with them besides the stuff that the incompetent system caused. I have had two speeding tickets in my life and was sent to juvie when I was 19 from when the person who gave birth to me claimed I was a runaway, even though the court said I had the right to go and live with my aunt. Then I've just had issues with their arrogant and cocky remarks because they all think they are damn GODS or something.

Well here is more of another story that is still ongoing with both the corrupt system and the NAZI enforcers!!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the- ... m/?hpid=z3
The truth might never have surfaced were it not for video from a nearby airport surveillance camera. It shows what investigators say is Deputy Quiles’ squad car traveling west on Hutsteiner Avenue, then continuing onto Howell without making a complete stop, as Quiles claimed in his report. The Sheriff’s Office knew about the video just two days after the crash. But no one told Weyker.
Instead, the County sent letters blaming her for the crash and threatening legal action if she didn’t pay for the damage.
Of course, if Weyker was drunk, it would have been easy to pin the blame on her. But less than a month after the crash, test results showed she had no alcohol in her system. And by July, her drug test came back negative too. Five months after the crash, it was clear Weyker had been stone cold sober.

I read about that yesterday. What a nightmare. People need to be fired and face charges from what happened in that case. We also need every cop to have to wear a camera all the time. It would keep everyone more honest.
