Thanks Dave. As for needing drilling equipment, the offer stands for the bench drill press.

For anybody not used to drilling metal, even though the bits usually say 'high speed', they work best and last longest at the slowest setting you can get. It's best if you can go slow enough to be able to define the tip as it turns.
After many years of tearing them up, a machinist finally set me straight.

Cheaper way to go is just a NOGO gauge and a round.

Good enough. If you and I can get together at my shop some day, I'll let you poke around to see if there is anything else that may be usable.
If you have any doubts, I'd prefer you armed there, instead of unarmed. Things can get sticky with no warning. Blackwell.

I don't have all my parts yet but was thinking next time we get together at the cove we could have another build party there as well.

Guys, I will throw another BP again in the summer. LOL I didnt buy all these tools just for it to be a one-time thing :packin:

The Cove is a campground with a firing range in Gore, VA. We had a meet n greet there last year and I beleive there is another one planned in June. I guess a build party would be possible there if we brought a generator for power tools.

Some of the sites have electrical. Might be a little bit of a pain to lug something like a press up there but it's a very fun place. Some off roading rails, good sites and some shooting ranges.

Hi, I just came across this thread while browsing at work saying to myself... "Man, I really should build up that receiver I bought during the panic..."

Google is a very powerful tool.

If there is a future BP in the summer, I would be interested in joining in on the festivities.
I have an OOW receiver, but that's about all I have. Honestly not too familiar with the AK other than shooting them a handful of times.

safaridave,
I forgot they (FedEx) ask for a phone number for the addressee. Please send me one ASAP by PM so I can get the pickup done.
