Had a great discussion at work today that started with "silencers are legal?" That then turned into a large pro-guns/pro-self defense discussion and the vulnerabilities of not being able to carry when you go grab a chili dog at Ben't Chili Bowl.

I always find it funny that everyone thinks "silencers" are so evil. I guess it is due to our movies and t.v. shows of gangsters and hit men using them for such. In very Anti-gun/freedom Europe silencers are required in many countries to hunt. I guess they do not want to disturb the peace by loud gun shots.

On your note, it is always nice to find a fellow gun enthusiast you did not know was around.

I think "Silencers" being regulated is hilarious!

The only one I have shot that makes absolute NO sound is a SilencerCo Sparrow on a Ruger 10/22... The one on the 7.62x39 just focuses the sound DOWN range, it's still loud as a beeyatch.

(shrugs) It's still hilarious that knives, and martial arts weapons are regulated in VA... I can get in trouble for carrying an Auto Knife, but NOT for the 9mm at the small of my back!??!

I thought silencers for a while were illegal? Hmm well never made sense to me unless you're shooting a smaller caliber at targets where you shouldn't.

As for other weapons I think it's just bladed weapons, excluding axes oddly enough, and only concerning concealing them. Anything blunt is okay excluding the outlawed ones like blackjacks and brass knuckles. Hammers are fine, staves, bats, clubs, and even spears for some odd reason. I looked up the laws on it in Va once it was enlightening!

I bought one coming back to VA from gunrunners in TN, the tac-65 has a less first round pop and probably quieter but its a PITA to take apart if its had alot of rounds down it. the SS sparrow wins hands down for durability and ease of maintnance.... nevermind that it will handle the FN 5.7!

I'm STILL waiting after 4 months for my forum 3 to get back, it should be any time now. The guys at gunrunners USA FORGOT to submit my paperwork, I called them after one month...said it was shipped (it was still in there safe) stopped by at the end of the second month, excuse was the paperwork STILL did not come in. Called back the end of the 3rd month and they called the ATF to check on it, seems they forgot to mail the forums! They apologized several times and said they would give me a GREAT discount on the tac-65, quoted me $165 for it....the same price they quoted me when I bought my sparrow 3 months earlier.

So back on subject, I restarted a job that I left 3 years ago. At the time my boss/owner of the business would not carry a pistol and did not think that guns like AR's should be able to be bought, He was strictly a hunting rifle type of guy.

Me and another tech had to beg to get time off to get our CCW's. When I started back 2 weeks ago he had got his CCW and a glock but still would not give the AR a shot. About a week ago I introduced him to a few of my AR's and friday I loaned him a RRA/LMT combo along with a cmmg .22 kit to try out over the weekend. I have a STRONG feeling that he will have his own monday morning.

I've heard of supressor recommended simply to protect the hearing of police and soldiers at the range. Yes, there's alot of paperwork to go thru to get one. At this point I'll pass.

But I am paid well enough that my wife can stay home with the kids, so I just keep it zipped now. Considering the gunphobia of some of them there, that's for the best.

There are more forms, that take more time to fill out to buy a rifle in VA than it takes to get a title 2 item.

I just filled out another form 4 today. My name and address went on one side, checked yes/no 12 times, and signed it. I'll drop it in the mail tomorrow with the tax payment, and thats all the paper work required.

Well, here in Caroline CO., hunt clubs who use dogs during deer season line up along a field with their shotguns, take one step off the road and then start blasting away at anything that moves and looks anything remotely like a deer. Apparently, as long as you don't shoot across the road, there is no "legal" distance from traffic you need to be.
