CZ SP-01 Phantom?

Post by RugerJoe »

I am considering a CZ SP-01 Phantom as my next firearm purchase. Does anyone have one or has anyone shot one? If so, what kind of review would you give this pistol? :pistol:

I have its older brother, the CZ-75b. Great guns, and the only full sized 9mm I will ever own. The only thing I don't like about the CZs is the lack of holsters.

I don't have a Phantom, but they get really, really good reviews. Like Jim, I have a CZ75B, as well as a CZ75 Compact and a CZ83. CZ makes a phenominally good gun, especially given the price.

sorry for the slight hijack but I have to ask Micro how much smaller is the 75 compact grip? I have shot a 75b and really would love a p01 if the grip is not too short. Otherwise its definitly going to be a phantom.

if your going to go that big just go to the 75 tactical. The polymer bottom cz feel really cheesy and alot more felt recoil...the 75 tactical is the same size but all steel and its alot more controlable and feels like a real gun...get your mitts on both and you will see

Don't have a Phantom but, do have its smaller brother, P-07 duty in 9mm. Just got it. Great shooter and very accurate. Recoil is very manageable. I am sure the Phantom is just as accurate and fun.

I will never ever ever let anyone have my CZ 85C(ombat). Ever. I can only assume that the Phantom would be the same, seeing as how it's designed to be a competition gun.

I'd say about 3/4" shorter. I have plenty of room for my hand on a 75B. The Compact is a bit shorter. I have a big hand and my pinky finger rests on the lip oi the magazine base. For me, the grip on the Compact gives the pistol a more controllable feel than on the 75B. I actually prefer the Compact to the full size gun.

CZs are some super sexy sleek pistols.

Thanks for the info guys. And spades I will definitely compare the Phantom to the Tactical before I make a purchase.

I've never handled the Phantom, IIRC it's a polymer version of the SP-01. I had a SP-01 Tactical and loved it, she was heavy, smooth and accurate.
Here she is:

I'm still trying to find a shop around here with both the phantom and the tactical in stock. I really did want to do a feel comparison ever since spades suggested it. Guess I will call around to a few more places tomorrow.

I've never handled a phantom, but I'd think that it would be a lot lighter than the tactical, the tactical is all metal.
