Either things are SLOW right now or they have picked up the pace a bit.

The daughter was the lucky one, mine took about 4+ weeks but that was about 2 years back .....

This seems pretty much in line with my experience.
Not that I needed one with my FL permit, but after one experience of trying to explain the law to a trooper in another state and 20 minutes at roadside while she called everyone on her cell phone list to verify it was good, I figure just get the home state permit. But I digress.
