Looks like the Akdal MKA 1919

It's an AR-15 in looks only. It's pretty much a dressed up semi auto shotgun.

But with a detachable box mag. That's a big selling point - and makes it a viable competitior to the Saiga. Especially for people used to ARs.

Personally I think they're ugly and kind of dinky (bedazzled selector markings? Seriously?), but they're getting positive attention from some folks who know what they're talking about.

You are absolutely correct about the detachable magazine, I did forget that part. I was merely talking about its internals, from what I've seen of them in person, they're only cosmetically and somewhat ergonomically similar to the AR platform.

I would agree with the statement that it is only cosmetically similar to an AR-15. It looks more like a modified benalli. I think the jury will be out on this thing for a while, I still prefer the saiga platform.

I'm curious whether the AR (Stoner) type system could accommodate shotshells.

That would be a cool thing to see. I wonder if anyone's ever really attempted to do that.

SPAS-15... Illegal to import thanks to the BATFE... it's a "Destructive Device" like the "Street Sweeper". As a matter of a fact? Same law tapped BOTH down!

The SPAS-15 is not a DD. Perhaps you're thinking of the USAS-12?

The SPAS-15 and USAS-12 are both piston operated guns, and that .410 upper is kinda cool, but I'd really like to see if anyone has made a DI-based, AR-style 12GA shotgun.
