Obviously, since clunkers for cash won't help of us. I looked into that hoping to get a good deal by trading in my truck to get more $ on a trade. The rebate is in lieu of not in addition to your trade. In other words if you trade in a clunker and take the rebate you dont get cash from the dealer for your car. Also, if your trade is worth more than the rebate it doesnt make sense to do it. How dumb is that and just how in hell is it supposed to help anybody. Anybody with a clunker worth less than the rebate probably cant afford to pay the difference for a newer car anyway.
