Ruger Releases Rather Innovative Pepper Spray.
I'm not exactly a fan of pepper spray but this is neat.

Oh look. Ruger put their name on the noisy annoying Tornado Pepper Spray System and is marketing it as their own. They seem to be doing that alot lately.

Thanks for the heads up I didn't know they didn't come up with this themselves. Seems rather out of left field for Ruger.

I mean good for them for expanding their product line to appeal to more people. And this is probably good for Tornado as their can now be more demand for their products as well. It's just I'd like to see something new and exciting from Ruger once in a while.

Uh, wouldn't the sound and lights also disorient and blind the user?

I like how everyone in the animation just stands perfectly still, like no one could just rush and tackle the user of that stupid thing.

The sound is RIDICULOUSLY loud on the Tornado units (I've played around with a demo unit), but IMHO would probably only deter or confuse an amateur or someone looking for a quick robbery in a somewhat populated place. The light is forward pointing, not like a swirling or unfocused unit that would blind the user unless the environment is incredibly dark.

It's not all that dissimilar from Surefire always talking about how their tactical light blind the attacker...yes, they will do that, but you can't count on that doing jack diddle for saving your life IMHO. Case in point, all the lights that get shot out during simunition training. Used properly it's an advantage, used even slightly improperly and it's a big liability.

For those fussing about Ruger dropping it's name on things?

Three words: SMITH AND WESSON!

They have put their label on cheap throwaway knives, handcuffs, pepper spray, underwear, etc, etc.

Diversity it the key. Because you may only sell a FEW guns, but EVERYONE needs S&W Corn Chips! "Go ahead, eat all you want, we'll make more..."

No it's not like a Surefire. I'm pretty sure the LED in the pepper spray is just your run of the mill old style LED. Surefires and other high end lights put out a lot more light and sometimes have a every changing strobe. It's way more light but the main problem is neither lights work well in daylight!

So more light prevents the attacker from rushing and tackling you? Shot out Surefire's beg to differ.

Keep in mind, though, that in most cases criminals are looking for an easy target. Someone in a simulation or committed to attacking the defender is going to ignore the lights, pepper spray, and hell, even .357 Magnum in the chest.

I'm not sure what you mean by shot out. Why would my light be shot out? The light gives you the ability to blind and person and then capitalize on that.
