Ruger 22/45 Mark III, MODEL P45GMK3PRRP

I just traded a guy out of one of these; looks to be brand new or near it. Don't know very much about it, but I don't have much in it, either. These hard times put a lot of guns on the market cheap. It's got a threaded knurled section on the end of the barrel. Screws off to expose a threaded section of barrel. Is that for a suppressor? A .22LR? WHY? Not sure it’s gonna point & feel like a 1911, but we'll see. Anybody got any inside knowledge or opinions on this piece?

On the REAL pistol front, my attempt to acquire 1911s is becoming downright frustrating. The Ed Brown Classic Custom I was promised June 1, then July 1, then August 1, and now "in a couple of weeks" still ain't here. My Nighthawk Custom Dominator is still 26 weeks out. My Springfield Armory Trophy Match is allegedly coming "in a week or so". I've got a Rock River Arms coming "this month", but it ain't the model I wanted. I wanted the Unlimited Match, and all I could get was a National Match. The Ruger SR1911 I was promised would be "one of the first ones my distributor gets" still ain't showed. I've got several others on wish lists with people, but I can;t stand to talk about them, because the lead times are even more hopeless. In desperation to break the drought, I committed what for me was 1911 heresy about 2 weeks ago. I bought a 1911 that WAS NOT chambered for .45ACP. Just couldn't help myself. It's a 9mm, of all things. But it IS a Kimber Pro Carry II. Dang nice pistol. I like it in spite of myself. Someday I'm gonna shoot it.

I've got a 22/45 Mk III with the replaceable panels - but not threaded. Yes, it's for a suppressor. Why? Why not? Not all of the models are threaded, but if you want a suppressor, might as well get one that is threaded from the factory. I replaced all the internals of mine with Volquartsen parts. Not sure what the trigger weight is, but it is LIGHT and CRISP. It presents just like my 1911 and has good accuracy. I replaced the front sight with a HiViz or TruGlo, don't remember which, but also put a cheapo Tasco 40mm red/green dot from Walmart on it sometimes and that works great too. I'm sure it's not the MOST accurate .22 pistol, at least in my hands, but it shoots good enough groups to win bowling pin and steel plate matches! All in all, I love my 22/45.
