OBAMA AND THE FAA STANDOFF

Post by Reverenddel »

Mr. Obama,
If I may so humbly make a suggestion about your dealings with the FAA over union matters... Take a page from Ronald Wilson Reagan, Fire those who do NOT come back to work, use Air Force controllers till you get a few classes trained, and SETTLE IT!

We're in a terrible economy, with high unemployment.

I'm sure those with a desire to work, would LOVE the opportunity to be in the FAA!

I dont think the controllers are affected right now. The ones affected are the bureaucrats who have been furloughed...makes ya wonder if we can do without them this long are they really needed...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

For those who said consumers would save the money not being taxed by the FAA....are you nuts?!

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... RPU97O.DTL
The largest U.S. carriers, including United, Delta Air Lines Inc. and Southwest Airlines Co., stand to reap that much new revenue after raising fares to mirror the suspended taxes and keeping the difference, said Rick Seaney, chief executive officer of Dallas-based ticket researcher FareCompare.com.
The free market works again! :hysterical:

That's the smart move because you can bet 100% that the FAA will force the airlines to pay the back taxes. It's not the free market, it's them being scared to death of government action and rightfully so.

You couldn't be any farther from the truth! As an FAA Air Traffic Controller, government workers on strike is NOT the issue here. Technicians are furloughed and the Agency's ability to collect taxes on airline tickets which funds the Agency has been rescinded.

As far as what Reagan did...do you not believe employees have a right to negotiate with their employer? As a union member, I feel they are a necessary evil.

While any business who treats its employees with respect and dignity, compensating them appropriately would never see the likes of a union, there are many that do not.

Let's just be clear on this issue, this is NOT any type of work stoppage on behalf of government workers. This is simply once again, our Congress unable to handle business before them.

So...in 2012 VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!

They have a right to negotiate, but the employer also has the right to fire them all and find other employees. It goes both ways...

Oh...I ABSOLUTELY agree, as long as both sides are negotiating in good faith.

The problem is, the government does what it wants when it wants. It's no different with its employees. We have a contract with our employer. You would be pissed to know how much money the government is wasting simply because it cannot follow a contract that IT agreed too.

Same as a previous story posted about the woodpecker...too many IDIOTS in charge. They're all YES men wearing knee pads!
