WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THOSE 686 PRICES

Wow, those Smith & Wesson 686 Prices just keep going up. At least in the Southwest here, anyway. I know they are good guns but wow, you could have purchased one 20 years ago, shot the thing a fair amount, then turn around and sell the thing for a fair amount more than you paid, new. I have two 686's that I was going to put on the block but now I shinned them up and put them away for awhile to see what happens. But then again, there are some Ruger Blk Hawks that are doing pretty good too. How are prices doing in the EAST?

Wow. Too bad if true: I was looking forward to adding a 4" for hunting muzzle velocity in addition to my 2.5" regular carry piece. Great gun.

What kind of prices are we talking? There's a few firearms I wished I'd picked up 20 years ago at those prices...

What I have been seeing is that alot of gunners are looking for the OLDER 686's without the fancy add ons like the No Dash or the dash 2,3,4 Prices have been running REAL close to new price out here. I do beleive they are worth it but how do you keep from getting one with say 30,000 rounds thru it, can't ck em out on the computer if someone says it was their grandma's and shot very seldom, until you actually see it in the flesh, so to speak. Anyone had a problem like that with an older 686

In 1981 I bought a new 586 (6" barrel) right at the end of summer for about $210. Two weeks later a 4" 686 showed up at the same store for $240. My dad bought it.

He hasn't shot a box of shells through his since he bought it. I've shot mine a lot. It remains the most accurate .357 magnum revolver I've ever shot. In fact the only revolver more accurate (that I've shot) was a buddies S&W Model 14 with a 6" barrel.
