Great place to hold a conference for concealed carry. A place you can't carry at all. Just saying... :confused:

It's gonna get a lot more press being at the NPC, and in DC. Maybe that's the point.

People trying to get press care. It's a tradeoff. Lose a student attendee, gain a reporter. It's a judgement call and I suspect a good one.

Having conferences and conventions in the belly of the beast is not unknown. One of the big pro-gun orgs (SAF? CCRKBA? I forget) had their annual meeting in San Francisco last year. Got a lawsuit out of it if I remember right. Their next one was scheduled for Chicago.
