UPDATE - AND MORE ACTION NEEDED
The Central Virginia Sporting Clays (CVSC), owned by Brad Landseadel, is trying to expand and protect his commercial sporting clays range in Fluvanna County.
CVSC sits on a huge tract of land, well away from the nearest neighbor. People using the range currently shoot in a semi-circle, with shots going inward towards the semi-circle's center. The range owner wants to allow shooters to also shoot outward from that semi-circle.
A small group of very vocal residents are fighting this move and are trying to get the whole range shut down. This is pretty mean-spirited, especially considering how the range has tried to be a good neighbor over the years. Also, the nearest neighbor is far enough away that the noise wouldn't be a serious issue, anyway.
There is going to be a Planning Commission hearing on Wednesday, February 23rd, at 7 PM. The hearing will be held at the Fluvanna County Community Center, 5725 James Madison Highway, just north of Fork Union Military Academy.
Fluvanna Board of Supervisor member Shaun Kenney is standing with gun owners in this battle and has been in contact with me.

Suggested message:
I urge the Fluvanna County Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and the Chamber of Commerce to support the requested expansion and continued operations of the Central Virginia Sporting Clays (CVSC) range, located at 442 Middle Fork Road in Palmyra!
Ranges, such as CVSC, are important to the citizens of Virginia because of the growing scarcity of land where a person can shoot a gun. Government should be protecting ranges and encouraging their development as much as possible.
CVSC has been a good neighbor, is situated a reasonable distance from its neighbors, and is a great place for new gun owners to learn how to shoot in a safe environment.
At a time when the economy in America is faltering, Fluvanna County needs to welcome and protect businesses such as CSVC, which bring customers into the County, helping sustain not only itself, but other small businesses as well.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
