NRA CCW (Basic Pistol) Classes

Has anyone here taken the NRA CCW (Basic Pistol) course? This class is about $50 cheaper than the range where I am a member; and I wanted to see if there were any differences.

When I last shot at the NRA Range I was able to speak with an RO and he stated that the NRA course is not centered on holster, draw, fire; but rather proficiency of the owner to the firearm. He also stated that the Holster was "optional" and that the two-day course was split just about evenly with classroom/range times. Lower ammo requirements (NRA - 50rds; membership range = 100rds); most other requirements are SOP's (eye/ear protections, brim-hat, dress, etc).

$50, in today's "ammo-shortage" times, means two/three boxes of ammo that I can use on my own at the range to perfect response/aim protocols.

Any thoughts, experiences... etc.....

I took the basic practical course and thought it was good, A lot of coverage on laws and what actions consider using if an incident occurs,, the live fire portion was 15 rounds under the RO's direction , It was meant for someone who already knows guns and needs the rough edges smoothed for CC.
The instructor in my class sent 2 people out that raised their hands when asked who has not used a gun before,, So all in all I would recomend it if you are experienced,
