CLEO in Cville GTG signing NFA paperwork?

Post by towerofpower93 »

It's about time for another can and Im trying to see if the Chief of Police in Charlottesville or the Sherriff of Albemarle County signs off on form 1s and 4s. If there is a track record of neither of them not doing so, anyone have experience with a local lawyer that has set up a trust for them?

Thanks all

I used the apple law firm; guntrustlawyer.com, and they have associates that are licensed state wide in VA.

IMO trust are very useful for a number of reasons.

How much did your trust cost and how long did it take, if you don't mind me asking. I'm contemplatingte trust route, but I'm sure to move to a different state at some point in time and not aware of the procedures concerning a trust.

Guess I should ask you, what's the deal if you move out of the state the trust was created/notarized in? Just do a couple of the ATF interstate transfer forms and call it a day, or does the trust have to be re-notarized and moved to the new state?

Thanks

how long did it take,
I was out of town and traveling, so it took about 2 weeks. But if I had been in town with good internet access... 3-5 days.

Called apple, payed by CC. 2 days later a Va based lawyer sent me documents. We made a couple of rounds of changes, and then I took the final docs to my notary, and poof my trust came into existence. Went to the bank and opened a bank account for the trust. Then I went shopping.

I'm not a lawyer, but... my understanding, is the trust continues to stand. Regardless of what state you have moved to.

Certainly you need to update the ATF and/or local and/or state officials of the new storage location, but I believe you can continue to do asset additions/transfers/disposals for the trust.

But thats an uneducated layman's opinion. Call apple and ask them.

So just a quick followup.

Did you setup the trust?

What have you decided to add to the collection?
