Dance's Sporting Goods - Colonial Heights

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Dance's Sporting Goods - Colonial Heights

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Great selection of guns, knives, fishing and hunting supplies. Not to mention the most ammo I've seen on the shelf in a long time. Everyone went out of their way to answer questions and help me with my purchase of a Ruger LCR. They get two thumbs up from me

Just bought a CC holster from them yesterday. The staff was extremely helpful and even compared products for me, opened packages, showed me varying options for carrying concealed and let me use a pistol to try different methods. Even though they have signs stating not to open ammo boxes; if you want to see a round, just take the box to the counter and they will gladly open it for you. Awesome people, friendly and very helpful staff.

Going to have to go ahead and kind of disagree with the previous posters here. I've been in Dance's several times over the years and have not once left there when I wasn't annoyed at the people that run the place. Don't know if I have to have a magic decoder ring or know the secret handshake, but I couldn't get anyone to give me the time of day there, so I just stopped going. They do have a huge selection of weapons and ammo, but their prices aren't that great, and their attitude just makes it not worth the time.

I saw their "Must be 21 to Purchase assault weapons." sign. That's all I needed to see to convince me never to spend a dime there.

Perhaps the difference is rooted in the 2 year difference between the last post and your recent visit?

Not the case, unfortunately. My original visit to Dance's was within weeks of their original opening, and my few subsequent visits have been scattered over the years.....seems it takes me a year or two to get over being annoyed enough to give them another shot, and then they annoy me again.

I've been going to Dance's since they were on Wakefield St in Petersburg. (mid 80's). Yes it's been up and down, it really depends on who you talk to and what time of the month it is for them. You can go in there one time and it's great, then another time not so. They know me from over the years, I think it comes down to if your a BIG spender or not. I'm not! So I've gotten a good deal and more than often did not. Better than Greentop???? Dance's is closer for me.

Simple to answer, hell of a lot better than Greentop's. Costs are similar and the people at Dance's will at least ask if they can help you. My experience is that the older or "mature" gentlemen in the store are better to deal with though.
