What is your dream gun to own?

Otherwise I have simple humble tastes. A Barrett M107A1-SYS would be at the top of my list. I prefer to hit the zombies when they're outside of my city, not just my yard.

M2HBs have been dropping in price; a sideplate gun is only about two or three thousand more than a complete MP5. Realistically the only differences between them now are ammo costs and shooting locations.

Really, I don't think I could ever feed the M2 though.

I guess I am pretty lucky, I own several of my dream guns: a Glenfield model 60 (.22 semi-auto, complete with squirrel and acorn stock) and a 1950's International Harvester M1 Garand (formerly of Va Tech's Corps of Cadets). Anything more would require winning a multi-bazillion dollar lottery to own AND feed. I am partial to M240Bs put M2HBs are nice too...

After shooting gunderwood's Barrett last year at Bill's, I'm in love (with the Barrett, not the Garrett!)

So, really anything in .50 Cal would make me a happy man. I really think it would look nice mounted on the bow of my boat. Put the kids in FLAK jackets just after dusk, load up every third round with a tracer and let them have at it. Reminds me of my Navy days

Dream gun? HMMMMMMMM...........

Trouble is, when you buy one, you find out about another. You never get through buying them dang thangs. I'm well on the way down that road.

In my quest for the dream gun, and due to my fascination with throwing big slugs further,I have acquired:
(1) a Sprinfield Armory M1-A M-21 Tactical
(2) an Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf (not long-range, but a big slug)
(3) a Savage BA-10 .338 Lapua
(4) a Bushmaster BA-50 .50BMG

I wanted a Sako instead of a Savage, and I probably would have bought a semiauto Barrett instead of the bolt-action Bushmaster if it hadn't been twice the price, but they're pretty nice guns all the same and I'm happy with them. But There's ALWAYS some other gun.............. Any one of the 6 or 8 big-name custom-house 1911s I don't have yet. Or, given my fascination with throwing big slugs further, I guess maybe a .406 CheyTac might be in order.

Then again, I can never tell what sort of firearm might next catch my fancy. I was focused on 1911s a while back, and then, just like lightning striking a black-gum stump, I got blindsided by the irresistable urge for a Thompson.

But maybe the critical mass I'm approaching is to finally permit and purchase an automatic weapon. Probably either an AR-10, AR-15, or AK to begin with. Of course, 10 minutes after the smoke clears from the first firing, I'll be plotting my next acquisition.

The accuracy on the semis isn't all that either. Sufficient for anti-material, but less than ideal for anti-personnel or target shooting. Can't suppress them either.

Not many AR10s in the registry. They don't cost a lot when they do come up - IIRC the last one I saw was asking about 9k. It's just a matter of finding one. Spare parts are an issue.

AKs are easy to find but they'll all run you 15k or so, unless you want a bringback, and that's a lot more.

AR15s will be the cheapest/easiest unless you want a rare NIB variant. If you just want some rat-a-tat-tat, a registered receiver (made by either Colt or Olympic, converted by who knows) runs about 9k.

Allow me to point out the obvoius, "YOU"RE SHOOTING A FREAKIN' .50", the bullet is a half inch in diameter. A short rifle is four feet long. You can supress it, then it's about five and a half feet long and has some stomp to it too, because you removed the muzzle brake. It was intended to be shot at long range and the bullet shows up before the sound gets there...

MOA is independent of bullet size. It makes no difference is you are shooting a .17 cal or a .50 cal. Proper measurement of your rifles MOA removes that as a variable.

AAC also agrees ( it's in their freaking manual), as does Barrett IIRC.

You also don't seem to understand the tactical advantages or use of suppressors on precision rifles or you wouldn't have made such a silly comment about the bullet arriving before the sound. That's always the case with a round which travels supersonic. Duh.

IIRC, candidate G is the AAC can.

So just as a quick update. I went and looked over my Cyclops, muzzle device and owners manual. To make a long story short I sold my model 99 barrett to run this can on a M107. Well the first page of that owners manual says " do not use this suppressor in a semi-auto rifle"

It can be done, but it voids the warranty on the can and the rifle. The military found it broke their guns and caused FTEs/FTFs frequently. All parties involved advise against it and won't support it if you do it. It will break the gun.
