MP5 Pistol

Post by programmatore »

I picked up my Dakota Tactical D54P-N (MP5-N clone) the other day. I had it transferred to NOVA Armament from a dealer in Pennsylvania. For those considering getting an MP5 clone, I highly recommend Dakota Tactical's builds. I bought mine used (about 100 rounds through it) but they have new ones on HKParts.net (http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-MP5-N ... 0p2070.htm.) They cost a bit more than other clones but the build quality is top notch and second only to H&K 94 rifle conversions that cost twice as much!

I submitted the Form 1 for an SBR conversion yesterday. Hopefully the guys on Capitol Hill can pass a budget and prevent a government shutdown -- I don't want my paperwork to be put on hold!

Anyway, here are the requisite pictures. I was trying on different forearm options. Once I get the Form 1 back I will try different stock options as well.

The pistol came with a slim forearm. It looks kind of neat -- a bit retro -- but it wasn't for me.

I really like the Surefire 628 forearm but it felt a bit heavy on a pistol. Once I convert it to a SBR I might go back to the Surefire.

Here is the classic black, wide forearm. I really like this one.

I finally settled on an olive drab green, wide forearm just to be different. I think it really works. I can't wait to get my Form 1 back so I can put on the matching OD green stock.

If we're voting here on forearms, I say go classic. You can't beat a classic. The olive green is definitely different though. Kind of reminds me of a vietnam era weapon. Nice gun!

Very nice, what did you use for the background?

I just laid some "bright white" poster paper on my dining table and took pictures of the pistol using a flash gun bounced off the ceiling. I adjusted the exposure in Photoshop to get the white background really white.

Yes, they are full-auto sear-ready. No carrier blocking bars. A few of the guys on HKPro.net have videos up of their guns firing 3-round bursts and full mag dumps. One of these days I'll have to get a registered sear!
