The Privately Owned Weapons range at Ft Lee opened back up today. I took my youngest son Chris with me, and met up with a friend and his two sons out there. I also met a pretty good guy named Malcom who directed me to this site.
Just want to say what a great experience it was today. The people running the place are doing a great job and I really appreciate a place to shoot so close to home. I will absolutely be back, and would encourage anyone in the tri-cities or Richmond area to give it a try.
You don't have to be military, you save huge amounts of money bringing your own ammo, and you can bring your kids and begin teaching them, as long as they are over age 10.
They currently are limited to pistols, shotguns, black powder and small bore (.17, .22, 223 etc) long guns, but I was told they will eventually allow larger bore long guns, when they get some dirt work done. All local shooters need to support this place and these people. Thanks, Ben Sherr

Never initiate force against another. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.KYFHO

What's the ETA on the work being done? I think they have been talking about it for a few years now IIRC.

ETA is, like most military operations, whenever they say so...

I had a good time out at the POW range today as well... Was a pleasure to meet Bjay65 and his son. Also appreciate trying your Sig Sauer, Ben...
He's right about the range, as well. It has been closed for a few week but will be open next Sunday, the 10th as well. Price is right and the staff are a pleasure to work with.
