New Plinker

Post by programmatore »

I picked up a new plinker: a Heckler & Koch (Umarex) MP5A5 .22lr. I've put about 300 rounds through it without any problems. It's pretty accurate and a lot of fun to shoot!

I also have a GSG-5 but I have to say I like the build quality of the H&K better. It has a really nice Navy-style trigger housing and the collapsable A3 stock feels solid not like the wobbly GSG-5 folding stock. It weighs about the same as a real MP5 too. The only downside is that they don't have any of the accessories (extra magazines, fixed A2 stock, etc.) available yet.

more fun than a 10/22? Looks very nice. I've contemplated some of the dedicated 22 ar's but at the price always thought that getting a real ar and a conversion kit would make more sense.

My carry weapon was a mp-5 back in my day. I have shot several .50bmg's as well as ak's, mg42 and several others. The mp-5 was the best out of all I've ever shot. I loved that weapon, and miss her. I want her back! Enjoy this, it looks like her smaller cousin, and she's a cutey.

Her "big brother" is coming by UPS next week. I can't wait!

Damn, you got one helluva great weapon heading your direction. Keep it greased and the barrel hot. Have you picked any optics yet for it?

I haven't decided on optics for it yet. I really like the Eotech 512 I have on my AR and I am thinking of getting one of the smaller Eotech XPS-2 sights for the MP5. I like the quick and easy target acquisition with the Eotechs although they are a bit heavy. I'd like the MP5 to be as light as possible so I am also considering an Aimpoint Micro H1 or T1 on a low-mount rail. It would be light and will co-witness with the MP5's sights. I am using the Sig Sauer red dot that came with my SIG516 on my .22 right now and I might just slap that on the MP5 until I make up my mind.

What optics did you use on your MP5 back in the day? Between the two, would you rather get an Eotech XPS-2 or an Aimpoint Micro H1?

I prefer the Aimpoints. If you ever think you may get NV, get the T1...it isn't that much more.
