Hotmail users not receiving VGOF emails

All of a sudden, Hotmail's mail servers are kicking back all emails sent from our server. So, if you use HOTMAIL as your email address in your profile here at VGOF, you *will not* get any emails from the forum.

I've been through this before, and it's really a pain to get the Windows Live people (or yahoo, or any of the others) to remove a server from their "bad servers list".

I have already had a couple of emails kicked back to my server for private messages, so check to see if you have any PMs - you won't get a VGOF notification of it.

I'll try to get this worked out, but there aren't any promises. I would really suggest that you provide an email address other than hotmail.com in order to use VGOF.

The domain name has the "g" word in it

Hmmn. I've had my hotmail account since 1999 and use it for almost all personal emails and sales ever since. Running into this more-and-more, though I DID just use my hotmail account to join VGOF and I got the activation email...?

Sorry - meant to update this...the problem has been corrected, as of about Friday the 11th of March. I contacted live.com and got them to set it straight.

Not sure how we got added to the hotmail list. They use their own filtering and don't rely on RBL's. Once I realized what was going on, I checked the RBLs and we were not blacklisted. soooo...

They do use their own filters; however they are comprised largely of rbl's, dnsbl's, xbl's and other heuristics including but not limited to simple static black and white lists. The server that vgof mail is relayed thru is on the uceprotect level 2 list and has been for some time. This is a list that I use on all my mail servers in addition to many others. I cannot say if this had anything to do with the interruption however this is a popular list and I would be surprised if they did not do reverse lookups against it. Thanks for the info. The mail server that VGOF uses for normal board emails (registrations, private message notifications, etc) isn't on the UCE list, but the mail system we use for the VGOF newsletter is on the UCE at level 2 as you indicated.
