Starting my own business . . .
Starting my own business . . .
After a thouroughly maddening search for my next gig, I've decided to tell Corporate America to pound sand and start my own business - mostly. KaosMom and I are purchasing a franchise. No, it's not a new McDonald's on RT 81 (if In-n-Out Burgers did stores out east.....). We are opening the Piedmont office of Global Recruiter's Network (GRN). We will be in the recruiting and placement services.
GRN has been around since 2002 and have over 500 consultants in 170 offices world wide. GRN was started by former employees of another recruitung franchise; MRI. While each office has unlimited reach geographically, each office does specialize in industry and discipline. My office will focus on, what else, IT (for now). I have very specific plans to expand the office at the 10, 18 and 24 month marks and branch into other industries including wineries and musical instrument and firearms manufacturing (those industries actually do a lot of hiring).
It's going to take about three weeks for us to finalize the paperwork and for me to attend training, but then it's full speed ahead. Right now I need resumes to fill my "inventory." If you are activly or passivly seeking to transition to another job or firm, please let me know. All contacts will be held in the strictest confidence. This is a great way to explore the market without exposing yourself on Monster or Career Builder.
In any event, wish me luck. This will either be a fantastic success or a spectacular failure. Either way, comic hijinks will ensue!

Will you be looking to place anyone in the Richmond area?

I am unrestricted geographically. Many hiring managers have a natural bias against working with "out of town" placement services but if there is a match in Richmond, I'll work on it!ProShooter wrote:Will you be looking to place anyone in the Richmond area?

Its an exciting and frustrating path. Hope it works well. You have good timing at least...I really think in 10 years 25% of all employees will be temps.

GRN Medina?
So happens I'm working with one of their people right now to fill a position.
Good Luck. I'd say you're in an area with plenty of turnover. That ought to be good for business.

Thanks all!
I'll be starting from home for the first year and a half. After that I am required to move to an office and you can bet it will be a "2A OK!" business!
@DorminWS - let me know how it goes.
