Dulles/Chantilly Gun Show Feb 11/13

Post by ChicagoGuy »

I'm considering making the drive up north to the show this weekend. I generally make the Showplace show every time its in town. I tend to think the Doswell and RIR shows don't quite have the tables or deals you can find at the Showplace. I'm looking for some feedback from those of you that have made the trip north. Also do you share my thoughts on the local shows here? Or am I missing the boat in Richmond?

Thanks

Showplace and RIR shows are good, Chantilly is especially good.

Chantilly is the largest in VA that I'm aware of. As for deals I think it depends a lot on what you are looking for, what time of year the show is held (how's the market for what you want), etc. Some shows have great deals, others don't seem to have much at all.

....so all things considered. There are other shows upcoming. Is this (this weekend) a show "not to be missed?"

Thanks

I have heard Chantilly stuff is more pricey than others.

Chantilly is the big show for the state. The Showplace is decent, RIR and Doswell are wastes of time.

That said, Chantilly isn't as good as it used to be. Ohio Ordnance no longer comes, it's just not worth it.

Just got back...SUPER CROWDED...I have never seen that many people there since I started going. Left at 1 PM, people still lined up around the building waiting to get in. Wide range of prices on the same items. If you go, look at everything first, then buy.

Time for ice cold beverages, and the start of speedweek. Happy Saturday.

I visited the NRA range this morning, and thought I would stop by the show afterwards - drove in the parking lot circa 12:50, drove out circa 13:00. I decided it wasnt worth the fight to 'just look around'. Never seen it that crowded before.

It was SUPER crowded. We waited in line for 30 minutes or more before we finally got in. A LOT more people at the show this time than any other time I've been there in the last couple of years.

I have to agree with the crowds. I've never seen it like this. We got there at 10 in the morning and it took us 30 minutes to get in the building. The tables were hard to get to but I will say I found everything I went for and then some. Found some good prices too.

When we left the show at 2:30 there was still a line out side to get in. I just don't understand what was so special that it brought in such a crowd.

Many of our students had trouble finding parking for our class. It was a zoo.

Probably because of the Tucson, AZ incident last month and the resulting flurry of proposed anti-gun bills in the House and Senate ("never let a good crisis go to waste", saith the Rahm of Emanuel).

I stopped in today. Still crowded but no lines like the day before. Parking still a challenge. Not exactly fun moving about the floor but it was possible. Can't imagine what it was like the days prior.

Owner of one of the local stores who also runs big set of tables at this event said it was very busy and driven by sentiments/concerns around potential hi-cap bans. Items with capacities greater than 10 were getting all the attention the first 2 days.
