VA Senator Seeks to Castrate Sex Offenders

RICHMOND, Va. -- A Virginia legislator is proposing castrating sex offenders as an alternative to the increasing costs to detain and treat them after they've served their prison sentences.

Republican Sen. Emmett Hanger's bill would require the state to study the use of physical castration as an alternative to civil commitment for sexually violent predators. A similar proposal was vetoed four years ago.

Hell yes, I go along with this 100% but I have to say that if I find you after you have raped someone from my family castrating you would not be an option for a dead piece of meat.

I wish I could jump in here with a "Hell Yeah!" However, rape is not a crime of lust or passion...it's one of the most heinous hate crimes ever. If a rapist cannot use "natural" means he will find other ways - a broomhandle, a bat, a tennis racket. A lot of comparisons are made between guns and geshtunkles - and they're correct. A mad man does not need a gun to commit mass murder and rapist does not need a stiff willie to commit rape.

Now, sadly, we also know that there is nothing that will deterr these guys other than a visit to ol'sparky. Rape must tbe reclassified as a capital offense and all of those wussified states have to reinstate the death penalty. After all, rape is the easiest charge to get a DNA match on.

You're absolutely right, its about power and hate, not ejaculation. But the fact its even being raised, man I love this state.

They dont do anything so humane...chemicals more likely. I favor the rubber band method myself. That way they can watch them shrivel up and fall off over a period of several days...
