try before buy?
try before buy?
Any area ranges have rentals to experiment? Haven't fired a pistol in over 10 years, want to try a bunch, see whats best for me, will worry about the comfort/vs power after I narrow it down to what feels good in my hands.
Also any area places to be fitted for a good holster would be a valued recommendation, thank you.

For the holster - I'd suggest going to a gun show, taking your firearm with you, and trying out a few different options. Most vendors will allow you to "try it on" before buying.
Not sure on range rentals. If we have a get-together at SEG in Ashburn, would you be able to make it? If we get 10 or 15 people to show up, maybe you could try a few different pistols there.

SEG has a handful of weapons for rental. Ditto on a meetup - I am sure we'll cover the gamut when it comes to firearms.

Blue Ridge Arsenal has a fair rental line.

The only place that I know of in Roanoke is PSS. Here is a link to their website.

I have never rented there, but I have shot at their range.
Nice people.

$10.00 per rental gun is gonna get real expensive, better narrow it down to two or three before I get there. The meet up sounds cool, but at a four hour drive each way I don't foresee the free time to make the trip unfortunately. Having a business and being a young family man severely limits my time.smltooner wrote:The only place that I know of in Roanoke is PSS. Here is a link to their website.

Good idea, my wife has been doing the same thing. She wants to find her "perfect" carry gun.Kreutz wrote:Any area ranges have rentals to experiment? I can't find where you are located. If you are in Hampton Roads,These are $5.00 per rental plus ammo & range fee. 2 indoor Ranges/Gunshops that rent is Bob's Guns in Norfolk and Superior Pawn in Virginia Beach.

Some ranges let you swap guns on the same rental fee. You just pay the ammo charge. Sharpshooters in Lorton does but thats probably a haul for you.Kreutz wrote:$10.00 per rental gun is gonna get real expensive, better narrow it down to two or three before I get there. Dominion Shooting Range in Richmond. They have a decent selection of rentals. I think it is $10 per hour and you can trade them out for no charge. Range ammo only though.
