The truth comes out

Post by VBshooter »

For anyone wondering if Governoer Christie of NJ was becoming gun freindly by commuting Brian Aitkens' sentence ,,here's the skinny, NO

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/half-cocke ... un-rights/

Half Cocked: Chris Christie Won’t Fight for Gun Rights

Governor Christie commuted Aitken’s sentence because of procedural errors on the part of the trial judge, James Morley. (Some would argue incompetence, or even malice.) Morley refused to let the jury consider the claim that Aitken was in the process of moving from one residence to another, an exception under which citizens can move firearms in their vehicles

Too bad, he would have gotten a lot of gun owners support for a Presidential run in 2012... Oh Well At least Aitkens is out of jail!!

That's to bad, up goes another possible choice for the 2012 election. The Republicans can't win if they can't find anyone decent to run against the Democrats.

This is not a surprise at all. Christie has never claimed to be in favor of loosened gun laws in NJ, or support of individual rights in general. The only people trying to pin that on him were some overheated bloggers with zero knowledge of his history. He's as authoritarian as everyone else in the northeast.

He's a fiscal conservative, but do not mistake that for anything else but what it is - budgetary policy only.

Yeah, it would be impossible for me to get behind someone that is outspokenly a anti-gunner.

But on the flip side he put feelings aside and did what was right.

IMO the reality of the situation is the governor felt he needed to let him go for a "legal" reason. Would have cost him alot of capital in a traditionally blue state to let him out based on his favor of 2A rights.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Not really. Aitken should've been fully pardoned after that "judge" Morley's behaviour, not remain a convicted felon as he unfortunately is now.

Yes I agree with the full pardone but now he also has the best appeal for the conviction in the world. The only problem will be the cost of said appeal.

Aitken did not ask for a pardon, he asked for commutation only.

So what? He should never have been convicted in the first place, regardless of what he asked for after said conviction. Christie should've full-pardoned him.

SgtBill, I hope he does appeal, and I hope he does win. That judge...no, I won't get started on that. Not a good idea.

Cowboy,,we don't always agree but on this we do for sure..I agree fully about the judge,,,, A lot of nasty to say about him,( grit teeth and move on ) Suffice it to say Aitken should be cleared of it all,, It has never been said,, but I think our write in campaign had some influence on getting him out of jail... Christi is a known anti gun politican ,,,,maybe not as hard core as ,,say: Lautenburg but anti gun just the same,,,,, His freeing Aitken was a compromise with what's really right (Aitkens Rights) and who says that is (lawmakers and courts), I wonder how much support his fellow gun owners are giving him in NJ? Are they still fighting or did they quit after the release?
