Brady Campaign backs Deeds for VA Governor

Washington, DC - Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, issued the following statement on the victories of Creigh Deeds and Robert McDonnell in the Democratic and Republican primaries to run for Virginia Governor:

“Creigh Deeds told voters that he was moved by the arguments he heard from survivors of the Virginia Tech tragedy, and pledged that he’d support closing the loophole that allows dangerous people to purchase weapons without passing criminal background checks. Bob McDonnell so far has refused to acknowledge that the loophole even exists.

“The voters in Virginia now have a choice between a candidate who says he’s ‘determined to get the gun show loophole closed’ and a man who talks about family values but has refused to make it harder for criminals and the dangerously mentally ill to buy guns. That’s a clear choice indeed.

Now we have to see just where Deeds actually lies, Is he gonna be pro gun, a Brady Campaign puppet, Or try and play the ends against the middle,, The Brady organization is famous for lies and false reporting,,, Will be interesting to watch this as it goes on..

Deeds already has his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. Now it's up to us to stir the breeze.

From what I see and hear ,, I really don;t think that there is as much anti gun in VA as the press would like us to think;;; Just about every person I speak to has no problem with the current gun laws and no objections to new ones that would benefit us,, The only touchy one is the restaurant/ alcohol concealed carry,,, I would be willing to concede that to get a Castle Doctrine inplace..We are one of 4 states that doesn't have it yet,,

I don't think the press thinks there's anti-gun in VA, I think they know that Virginia is very Pro-Gun, which is why they are concentrating so much effort on trying to change people's minds by exploiting every possible story with anti-gun rhetoric.

Agreed, It'll be interesting to see what they do, Kind of puts Ol Deeds in the hot seat

+1 allingeneral, Virginia is very Pro-gun but as it stands most of the stories that are passed through the media, to a general public that, as a whole, doesn't do research the way the way some of us do, is very leftist/anti-gun.
