Occoquan Gunsmiths in Woodbridge

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Occoquan Gunsmiths in Woodbridge

Post by RgrNo1Shtr »

Does anyone have any experience dealing with Occoquan Gunsmiths in Woodbridge? Saw their ad in Rifle Magazine and considering talking to them about a custom.

I haven't worked with them, but I'd recommend you go see their shop. A custom gun is a great thing, but you need to be on the same page as your gunsmith. If a custom gunsmith is too busy to take 15-20 mins and discuss what they can do for you, I wouldn't do business with them.

Actually I was going to go over and talk to them about a project I have in mind. I was just looking for a little advanced info. According to their website, they are willing to sit down and talk. This is not my first custom job, but it is a little different. I want to duplicate a rifle shown on page 439 of Baker's Modern Gunsmithing. A Krag sporter built for Dr. Paul B. Jenkens back in the 30's. Kind of crazy I know, but still very interesting. Yes, I have all the parts, and no I'm not damaging a collector specimen. That would be insane!

Sure, their website is occoquancustomguns.com. Remember, this isn't an endorsement since I haven't talked to them myself as yet. Another excellent smith in the area is Sandy and Bob Garrett up in Lorton doing business as Northern Virginia Gun Works, no website for them. I've been using them to do all my work so far.

Their home page has a picture of a women shooting a rifle with a curly maple stock. I've got one like that and it is sweet.
