UK Politics and a Lesson for US

Anyone following the political shake-up in the UK? It's getting pretty interesting over there. In case you've missed out there has been a large outcry about public officials abusing expense accounts and many publicly admitted wrong doing. Earlier this week UK news reported they are expecting a very low voter turnout in this election cycle (going on now!!). What's up with that? Some UK pundits are speculating that the people are planning a "protest" of the Parliament's legitimacy. Hmmm. There's also been a major upset in the PM's cabinet and many have resigned resulting in a major outcry for his resignation too. It's going to be very interesting to see how the people of the UK handle this. [BTW, it would be difficult for them to revolt without the use of guns and pointy kitchen knives - .] If they don't vote, IMO, they give up the only weapon they have left !!! We need to take a lesson from this and start getting ready NOW for the 2010 and 2012 election cycles. Also, don't forget about the VA Primary this coming Tuesday - 9 June. BTW, how many of you know as many as 2% FEWER Conservatives voted in the 2008 presidential election than in 2004? Political analysts also reported that in states won by Obama, 5% FEWER Republicans voted than in 2004. The Liberals not only won the elections - they beat us in turnout too !!!! Also, the NRA 1st Freedom Magazine (May 2009, p11) reports that as many as 28 million (yes 28 million) gun owners failed to register or vote in the 2004 elections!!! Folks, the time to act is now. We have to get ready. If you know a gun owner that does not exercise their right to vote - help them out!!!!

I'll be posting more info about the elections as we get closer. We can make a difference - IF WE GET ORGANIZED - GET THE WORD OUT - AND VOTE. We can't assume that the right person will be elected or that our voice will not be heard.

With regard to the statistics that you posted in red, above...

I know that there are a lot of folks that either voted for Obama or refused to vote because they didn't feel comfortable voting for the Republican ticket. McCain took a huge chance by selecting a female running mate - trying to capitalize on Dem votes with the female factor. I believe that if the Republicans had presented a stronger ticket, we could have won the election.

And let me be clear about this - I have nothing against putting a female in office, but Gov. Palin was ill-prepared.

I, personally, voted AGAINST Obama/Biden, not FOR McCain/Palin. I hope that with the next round of elections, we will have a ticket that I will be proud to support.

I hear ya, Rick. Its pretty sad, but I think there are alot of people that feel exactly the same way you do. I also have no prob with a female VP or pres for that matter, but she was ill prepared. I think they could have done a much better job with her. It's going to be very interesting to see what the Republican party comes up with for 2012. My big hope is to see a major upset in Congress and get some fresh minds in there that truly support the Constitution and what America really stands for.

It has been said that the repubs went with Mcain in attempt to run a moderate conservative, I feel a lot of people turned away because of his age and his lack of fire,,Lets face it ,He was a boring candidate,, Palin was an attempt to get some on the fence voters but Obama had everything going for him ,,Money, Money ,Money and he was the medias darling who could do no wrong,,,,I agree we need to get off our collective asses to take this country back,,,Starting right here at the local level and every election thereafter,,,,Next year the goal in my mind is to get as many of Obamas boys ousted as possible and continue to let the elected know we aint taking it no more and they will be made accountable, This time coming there are a lot more gun owners and IMHO a lot of these newbies who went out and got armed are enjoying it and will pay attention at election time.

I'm sure everybody will pay attention next time, but it could conceivably be too late. Who knows what the liberal democrats in Congress might do before then? I've also been hearing whispers of a super country - US, Canada, Mexico - and a thing called the "amero" (think euro). Some scary stuff these loons are coming up with. It may not go anywhere, but you never know. I'm not sure we can afford to wait until the next election cycle.
