Funny you mention North Korea. My nephew Aaron graduated from Univ of Cincinatti with a aerospace eng degree(rocket scientist) and is currently working at Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio as a North Korea missle specialist. He has told me numerous unclassified stories in the past in regards to N.K. Once, he said, an undersecretary from the NSA or NSC called and wanted to know the MINIMUM distance the new NK rocket could fly.
Aaron told him they could calculate maximum dist, payload, trajectory etc, but not minimum dist. The undersecretary became pissed and demanded to know the minimum dist of the current rocket, to which, after several LONG seconds of thought Aaron stated..."Push it over".

Kim Jong Il is feeling a little ignored and wants to rattle his saber. If the current administration takes a strong stand now, he'll fold. He just wants some attention.

Funny how quickly this went away in the news. Especially since they are prepping a long range missile now for another test and have also announced the successor. Kim Jong Il's number 3 son who isn't even 30 years old yet !!! That's worrisome.

I don't think that the little crazy Korean cares about pissing nations off. I think that China is publicly condemning his actions, but when it comes down to it China is whispering in his ear "Go ahead and do what you want, we've got your back".

IMO China is their back. I think China keeps N Korea in their hip pocket so they can covertly exploit geo-political issues from a "distance." Otherwise North Korea would be just another Chinese province.
