Virginia Pistol, Front Royal (Jimmy Johnson)

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

Virginia Pistol, Front Royal (Jimmy Johnson)

 Last time I did a firearms law lecture, it was in Front Royal, sponsored by Jimmy Johnson (Virginia Pistol LLC / http://www.vapistol.com/). He collected money from the folks who attended, but never paid me. That was back in April, I think. About six weeks ago, he promised to have me a pittance in the mail within a week. Never happened.

Jimmy's a pleasant guy, and I'm sure he really means to do right. But the long and short of it is, he doesn't. I know of a couple of other people he's stiffed, so it's definitely a pattern.

If I were to buy something from a retailer, I'd want to know that his promise to stand behind it is worth something. I am (very reluctantly) of the opinion that Jimmy's word is worthless. I wouldn't buy anything at his shop, even though he's a nice guy.

User,

Sorry to hear that you had some trouble with a fellow instructor. Stiffing a guest speaker on his fee is a terrible way to do business.

I would like to respond to what has been posted about me, my business and my practices.
The gentleman who made this post is a very knowledgeable person on firearms law which is why I wanted people to hear him speak.
Firstly...the "pittance" to which he refers is far more than the "pittance" I received which was nothing, and the amount which was agreed upon before the event took place. I paid out of the funds received for the banquet hall, food, advertising, and all the door prizes that were given out, to allow people access to his firearms knowledge, by the time all of that was paid for, the agreed upon "pittance" was more than what remained.
Secondly...on the evening of the event I was told that a trade of supplies would be acceptable in lieu of money. Once I received information on what was wanted I attempted to locate the exact items desired with no luck, and some of the other requested items cost far more than the agreed upon amount. So...it was decided to just pay the amount.
The amount was SENT! If it was not received, is this the way for me to find out?
Trust me....I will send the payment again tomorrow, but if you receive the other one please do not use it!
Thirdly..I have STIFFED no one else to my knowledge(in any business relationships) and if you were told that I did, why wouldn't you take the time to contact me and get BOTH sides of the story? and if they thought I did, again why is this the first time I've heard of it ?
Fourth....I always have and always will treat my customers and students with the utmost respect and very fairly!
Lastly...the only pattern I may have developed is choosing the wrong individuals with which to try and develop a business relationship, maybe they don't see things the same way, I don't know?

This will be my first, only and final comments on this post.
PLEASE...get out and vote tomorrow! As Tom Cruise said in Top Gun "this is our big chance and it's a big one Goose"
