Yesterday's Deer
Yesterday's Deer
Yesterday turned out to be a good day in the woods. The rut appeared to be in full swing with bucks running does everywhere. Even had a buck chase a doe almost in my front yard at about 11:45 am while DK and I were talking. I ended up seeing four deer, three of them were bucks. Only one buck wasn't hot after booty, he walked out and stood there wondering what that fat blob was smoking a cigarette. He took a 250 grain Hornady SST through both shoulders at about 20 yards. Despite being broken down and missing some lung he still ran 30 yards in the thickest crap around. Here he is this morning before the ride to the butcher. Now we have to get DK to post a picture of the one he got yesterday in the morning or should I say middle of the day.

Got the one on the left last night just at dusk so we let her hang overnight and took it to the butchers this morning. The one on the left (Mine) dressed out at 135lbs and the one of the right was about 140lbs or so
65 yard shot with 100g powder and 225 grain hollow point
First one for me this year and will be back out next Saturday.

Re: Yesterday's Deer
This one made the mistake of stepping in front of me and failing to run...took using 100 grains of 777 pellets and a 250 grain Hornaday SST hollow point...at about 15 yards. Fortunately Henry took his with a lung shot so I did get a decent heart. This guys heart was nothing but jelly.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: Yesterday's Deer
Nothing wrong with a doe. They just don't have the head gear that you can't eat anyway,no matter how long you boil them. I haven't shot a doe in about three years. It's not that I won't shoot one it's just all I have seen were bucks.
