Hey - Let's Ban Knives Too !!

Post by zephyp »

As many of you know, handguns were banned in the UK several years ago. Well, as would be expected, violent crime rose sharply and the weapon of choice became the knife. It seems most assailants favor the common pointy kitchen knife. The article below was posted about 4 years ago and I stumbled across it today. Can you guess what the British Medical Journal published? You guessed right!! Ban the sale of pointy kitchen knives. You just can't make this stuff up. What's next - you fill in the blank.

AFAIK they did ban knives. Whenever I stopped over in England while TDY, there were big red amnesty boxes for knives on/around the base.

I won't ask if you're kidding. Good grief. Next they'll ask to chop off your hands.

You don't suppose those red amnesty boxes were for the EBK's or assault knives do you? Now that they figured out banning assault knives won't work the next step is to ban all knives.

"The Home Office is looking for ways to reduce knife crime. We suggest that banning the sale of long pointed knives is a sensible and practical measure that would have this effect."

I suggest allowing the sale of firearms to citizens and then allowing them to carry those firearms, bet that'd reduce knife crime too!

I just went back and read the date of that article, May 05. I guess they might very well have banned certain types of knives since then. I'll have to dig a little more and see what's out there.
