A friend of mine forwarded this to me and I would have to completly agree with this, But the only problem is that there is not one person in the House nor the Senate that would put forth this type of resolution in a form of a Bill.

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Term limits only work if your clean out the legislator's staff as well, otherwise they just stick around and become the real, unelected, unaccountable powers behind the thrones ... which they already are, but we won't talk about that.

It would be great if someone had the stones to introduce legislation like this.

A few do introduce stuff like that. You'd be surprised at some of the stuff that gets proposed as draft bills. But unless there is alot of support it merely gets sent to a subcommittee where it dies a slow death.

My version which I've been pushing for years is similiar but is for all federal elected/appointed offices

1) No more than 12 years at any level
2) No more than 30 years total federal service (civilian/military)
3) Mandatory retirement at age 67

Not likely we'll ever see this but I still keep writting our congre$$ critter$

# 5 alone will kill the deal. And frankly, I would further add that the amount of salary collected should be commensurate to their approval rating - 11% approval rating? Sorry, 11% of your pay. Try to do better next quarter, Congress. I mean, name one other profession where you'd keep your job with that kind of performance review. Maybe meteorology - they're always wrong, too.

We already have the term limits, though - elections. It's our own damn faults for putting the same people in office cycle after cycle...
