Posting a video...Help!

Post by VBshooter »

In my daily rounds on the net I often come across videos that I think would be enjoyed here at the forum.. However I can't seem to post them correctly to allow them to work.. I have tried the BB code, The YouTube number? and a few other things and it appears I am still doing it wrong, Can somebody set me straight on posting vids???

You should be able to use the BB code and the youtube video number. However, it is possible to disable embedded video, which would cause that to fail. Hard to tell without knowing what video in particular you are trying to post.

The one at this URL ,, It represents a good reason IMHO to continue the immigration law fight,, Mexican flag is one thing but the Che-Guervara doesn;t exactly make these folks look anymore appealing...... Like many looking for a hand out this group is still bitching. http://www.breitbart.tv/mexican-flag-fl ... -protests/ Question: If it is embedded in a post will it show in the preview or do you have to submit it to work?? Some sites are like that .... Thanks for the help...

Here is the embed info for that video. It looks like they allow it, but that is a flash based video and not youtube (fox is streaming it). AFAIK, rick has not provided any way to embed that video to this site.
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="video" width="290" height="257.5" data="http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/video/video ... 97"><param value="http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/video/video ... rsion=2397" name="movie"/><param value="&skin=MP1ExternalAll-MFL.swf&embed=true&adSrc=http%3A%2F%2Fad%2Edoubleclick%2Enet%2Fadx%2Ftsg%2Eksaz%2Fnews%2Fnews%5Fother%5F3%2Fdetail%3Bdcmt%3Dtext%2Fxml%3Bpos%3D%3Btile%3D2%3Bfname%3Dprotesters%2Darrested%2Dat%2Drally%2Din%2Dfront%2Dof%2Dsheriff%2Darpaios%2Doffice%2D07292010%3Bloc%3Dembed%3Bsz%3D320x240%3Bord%3D197416980750858780%3Frand%3D0%2E9841873729601502&flv=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Emyfoxphoenix%2Ecom%2Ffeeds%2FoutboundFeed%3FobfType%3DVIDEO%5FPLAYER%5FSMIL%5FFEED%26componentId%3D132950787&img=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia2%2Emyfoxphoenix%2Ecom%2F%2Fphoto%2F2010%2F07%2F29%2Fsb1070%2Dprotest2%2D12pm%2D072910%5Ftmb0003%5F20100729140919%5F640%5F480%2EJPG&story=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Emyfoxphoenix%2Ecom%2Fdpp%2Fnews%2Fimmigration%2Fprotesters%2Darrested%2Dat%2Drally%2Din%2Dfront%2Dof%2Dsheriff%2Darpaios%2Doffice%2D07292010" name="FlashVars"/><param value="all" name="allowNetworking"/><param value="always" name="allowScriptAccess"/></object>

Yup I did that and of course it didn;t work.. So it has to be a You Tube type to do here? THis has had me messed up for a while now and I;m sure sooner or later I will get with it... IN the case of YOU TUBE is it just put the embed in or is there another step? Thanks Again

:hysterical:

I typed in youtube and decided I'd just take the first video on their homepage as an example...so I'm stuck with it.

If you click the embed button it will pop up something like this:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rlQ2kW-FvMk&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rlQ2kW-FvMk&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Rick has created a short cut that doesn't need all of that junk. The url in there is: http://www.youtube.com/v/rlQ2kW-FvMk

However, you don't need all of it except the part that is the unique indentifier for that particular video (when using Rick's youtube BB code). That code for this video is: rlQ2kW-FvMk

Just put that code between the BB code [youtube]<insert here>[/youtube]
