You are using the exact same technique that any democrat politician uses, tell a heartwrenching "story" about any unamed person(insert gender and circumstance to suit your goals) and hope that we all shed a tear for the common man,..... BS, Jimmy. The real truth about Katrina is well known. Katrina was purely political in every aspect, and was made worse BY the Dems on purpose. Like always they used the po blacks on La, as pawns for their own agenda. Nice story though, maybe you should write a childrens book.gatlingun6 wrote:Well said GS78 I'm sure the good people of New Orleans, many of whom I met during post Katrina operations in LA, MS, and TX during hurricane cleanup and relief operations appreciate your comments. Hopefully you can spare some time and pitch in with say Habitat for Humanity, or some other charitable organization sponsored by many thousands of Americans from every part of the country. If you did, I think your attitude which is in the distinct minority would change.GS78 wrote:Truth is that Tenn is considered a white community. Another truth is that New Orleans is better off right now than it has ever been.Iqentab308 wrote:I just hope those poor people get all put back into shape. I can't imagine what'd be like to lose your house, your job, and even loved ones/pets.
But one of my friends is from Tennessee, and he'd let no flood get the best of him. Those people down there are tough as nails, and resourceful.
On the other hand, I was down in New Orleans not too long ago, and it's STILL not back to what it was.
Having met many of them face to face on their property and in various shelters my attitude sure changed. I was constantly stunned by the grit and determination of people to push on after having lost everything including loved ones. Were there some bad apples who sought to take advantage of a bad situation? Of course there was and I encountered a few of them too, but then crime rarely takes a holiday.
Too bad you didn't meet many of them, or if you did, you didn't stop to engage and listen. You could have learned a lot from one of the elderly gentleman who lost everything and had nothing, only a concrete slab and steps remained to mark where his house once stood, yet he refused to give up and leave. He had to be approaching if not already North of 90 years old. Yet every day he walked down to the shelter to help out where he could, and was so kind as to sit down and share a wonderfully rich life story with me. He had no need to say it because he demonstrated every single day that he was tougher than nails!
I made it a point to try and walk a mile in their moccasins, to put away any smugness, arrogance, or holier than thou attitude. I made it a point to be non-judgmental, to engage and above all to listen and to try and understand the trauma they had just experienced and what they now faced.
Maybe someone can make me understand how one can shout to the house tops about how patriotic they are, and how much of an American they are, yet consistently display an attitude that BOOMS OUT F you to their fellow Americans in a time of need, or simply because they are perceived as different. Again thank God that attitude does not prevail, and gets buried every single day under an avalanche of thousands of acts of kindness.

Sorry guy, I am not in the habit of calling Presidents "boy" so I pass on that point. As for your President and mine Mr Obama, I do not always agree with what he does, but I do accord him the respect due his office. The same as I have done for every other President.GS78 wrote:I'll give you this jim, you are a faithful cheerleader for yo boy in DC.
Actually one of the things I do like about our President is his great manners. He is certainly a better man than I am on that score, but I'm working on it. He understands that the exercise of good manners cost one nothing. I truly fail to see where policy differences equate to disrespect. You see when you denigrate this President you essentially chip away at the office of every President.
By the way, I do occasionally thank God that the almighty gave us the wisdom to elect President Obama and VP Biden. I shudder to think of where we would be had we elected that other pair!

Do not say gave us as in all of us as I myself would not give Obamo or Biddumass a vote if their life depended on it.

Jim, as you can see, we've got a few bigots on this forum. I also see this on other pro-2A forums. And it's unfortunate. But like with crime, bigotry doesn't seem to take a holiday, either, and some folks just don't want to let go of it.
I just hope that Nikki Goeser, the Tennessean lady who spoke at the Second Amendment March this year, is OK. She's been through enough difficulty already without this flood adding to it.

IMO the only bigots here are those of us who dont like anti-gunners...and that would be most of us...CowboyT wrote:Jim, as you can see, we've got a few bigots on this forum.
