I got that too. I like how they went back to the original design of the 1911, instead of creating another Kimber-esque creation.

I bet it's going to be bloody expensive though.

It looks pretty nice, even if it is a weird hybrid between the 1911 and the 1911A1. It better be real accurate or stand out in some way because IMHO the 1911 market is crowded enough.

It's not an accurate reproduction.
It doesn't have the custom features that most 1911 owners love (I happen to hate those features. Love my 1911s stock.)
Unless it's very accurate and has a nice fit and finish for its price point it really won't stand out. I wish Remington would do some REAL R&D and get something NEW out, as much as I love 1911s.

The only 1911 pistol issue I've had is a nice used Series 70 that bent up the brass when I got it. Got that fixed and I'm happy now.

From what I read (you know what they say about stuff you read on the internet ) one of the biggest problems wit 1911's is folks think they want a bullseye match accurarized pistol with lots of custom doodads on it loaded with big old hollow points or it won't work right for them.

As many a GI found out from WW1 through Vietnam, the 1911/1911A1 works just fine all slimmed down and sloppy with GI hardball. I reload/shoot all hardball. I have replaced arched mainspring housings with flat mainspring housings (my first 1911 is a 1911 so I got used to the flat housing and like it). I've put ambidextrous safeties on them to make it easier to use left handed. I've bought 8 round magazines for them.

Having said all that I probably won't give the new Remingtons a look since I don't need more 1911's, I'm satisfied with what I have.

I have a hard time believing they make the whole thing in NY for less than $700MSRP. Either it's made of scrap-grade metal with high school shop class-level machining and finishing, or they're importing everything and putting it together there, like Springfield does.

I was just quoting their website. But I would totally go with your statement there as a good possibility.
