Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
Anyone have a shotgun that they use for home defense? I'm going to be getting one fairly soon and trying to decide what to get. Thinking about a Remington 870 Tactical (black synthetic with magazine extension - maybe with a folding stock)
What say you?
What say you?
Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
I'm not big on folding stocks but that's a personal preference. I like the extended magazine on the 870. I was looking at getting one of these. NEF Pardner Pump Protector.

This is what I keep by the bed. It's a Mossberg 500 Persuader with a few added accessories

Mmmm...yeah, I like that one. What kind of flashlight do you have mounted there?OakRidgeStars wrote:This is what I keep by the bed. It's a Mossberg 500 Persuader with a few added accessories![]()
I'm not big on a folding stock other than the fact that it is easier to find it a place to live in the house. If I were going to use it outside, I would definitely opt for a regular solid stock.

That's a Streamlight TLR-1 with a tube mount bracket. I had to use the Dremel to trim it down a wee bit, since it's made to fit on a longer tube (mine's only a 5 + 1 capacity)

I like to check out people's gear and see if I carry the products that folks have on their setups. It looks like I do carry the TLR-1. Got 26 of them in stock, currently. Not sure how my price compares to what you paid for yours...those are things that I like to know as wellOakRidgeStars wrote:That's a Streamlight TLR-1 with a tube mount bracket. Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
hodrige nice Saiga is it the 12? I like the Breaching muzzle break.
I used to have a Reminton 870 Marine Magnum with Knoxx recoil system and breaching muzzle break. only thing I didn't like about it is it was all Stainless Steel.
But I would like to get another, maybe one day.

I plan on gettin an 18.5'' barrel for my maverick 88 soon and possibly a tube extender. Should make for great home defense.

Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
I've been talking to a guy today who wants to buy a new 18.5" barrel for his Mossberg 500. He asked if the one I have in stock will fit it. I believe the one I have is for the Maverick 88. I have determined that the stocks for these two shotguns are interchangeable, but what about the barrels?catfssh wrote:I plan on gettin an 18.5'' barrel for my maverick 88 soon and possibly a tube extender. I can't keep up with what fits what...too many items. Anyone know the answer to this one?

Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
The 90015 barrel above is for the Mossberg 500, according to the chart on Mossberg's website. I don't know if it's interchangeable, but if he wants it for a 500, then it should fit just fine.

Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
I'm almost positive that barrels advertised to fit the maverick 88 fit the 500 and vise versa.allingeneral wrote:I've been talking to a guy today who wants to buy a new 18.5" barrel for his Mossberg 500. Re: Tactical (Home Defense) Shotgun Selection
I just got a mossberg 500 persuader/cruiser in 20ga. to keep in my truck since I'm on the road alot. With a 18.5 inch barrel and a pistol grip it is real easy to handle.
