No hunters on this evening, I'm curious to see how everyone made out.
Today I started out late and finished early, I heard some birds gobbling, funny how thunder makes them gobble. The weather stunk here this morning, first rain then sun repeated over and over all day.
The only good thing I did today is get a tree cut down that was blocking a road, now I have to get the stump out, still not enough clearance to get my truck through. This tree was left over from a wind storm this winter, I'll get caught up with my work as soon as this hunting season is over.
Monday starts the last week for turkey in Virginia.

Re: No Hunters
I hunt, well did. I haven't been in several years now. I never did have much luck with spring gobblers, seemed to do better int he fall.
Re: No Hunters
Moccasin those gobblers are tricky, I've had a couple hang up just out of range this year.
I did kill one in Virginia last fall. I just like to hunt, spring or fall doesn't matter to me, I just like being out there.

Re: No Hunters
Bob, being out there is all that matters isn't it? The turkey/deer/squirrel/rabbit/fish taken is just icing on the cake.
Re: No Hunters
I hear ya, you have a good one I'm out of here for today.
Re: No Hunters
I had a motivation problem this morning. Something along the line of anal glacoma. I just couldn't see my ass getting out of bed.
I;m gonna hit 'em hard Friday and Saturday the last 2 days. I did call in another hen on Friday, had her flying through the woods to come see me. She hung around about a half hour puttin', cluckin' and purring. I just knew she was going to bring a gobbler in.
She got so close I could make out about a 2" beard on her. I have become an expert on calling hens here lately.

Re: No Hunters
I've never been turkey hunting, but have seen them many times while in the woods. I'm mainly deer now. My idea of an exciting hunt is elk in the mountains of Arizona. The last one I got out there was about the same size as a horse. No beard, just ivory tusks.
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Re: No Hunters
I never hunted big game out west, but I have gone hunting in Kansas for pheasant. The place I go to is in the north western part of the state, nice country.
I used to have two german shorthairs but my old dog died two years ago, I still have the young one. They loved to hunt those pheasant. I haven't been out west since the old dog died, I've been thinking about another trip with just my one dog, she is a good hunter.
The place I hunted out there was outside Beloit, Kansas, plenty of pheasant and some quail too.
