I believe that the FFL shouldn't release it to you until after the 30 days expires and that you'll need a certificate, otherwise.

You'll have to wait 30 days or get the Multiple Handgun (NOT Firearms, multiple long guns purchases are not restricted) Purchase Certificate. To be honest though, by the time you get the certificate you probably won't need it since your 30 days is only 2 weeks away. I would suggest that you get your CC permit then you won't have this problem.

It seems to me that somewhere I saw a Multiple Handgun Purchase Certificate took nearly as long as a CC permit, that's why I said forget about it at this date and wait it out. As for your CC permit itself, if after 45 days you don't have one they have to issue what is basically a temporary permit. I don't know what the turn around times are in PW or Fairfax counties but in Madison it was less than 3 weeks. If I hadn't received one at 45 days I'd be all over them.

The multiple purchase certificate is only good for 7 days from the date of issuance. That's kinda bogus if you have to wait for a month to get it.

Well when i applied at the closes vsp office to my work in arlington, the secretary told me that it usually shouldnt take any more than 3-4 business days from when i applied since i have lived in va all my life. ill keep you guys updated on how long that actually takes (i applied for the permit on wednesday last week and she submitted the paperwork to richmond thursday) hopefully i get an answer by mid-week. the paperwork was pretty straight forward just basically filling out a background check sheet and they also had areas for how many handguns you wanted to purchase and an area to fill out why you needed to make a multiple purchase

UPDATE!: Got the call from VSP today and my application was approved, so i picked up my certificate at the office where i had applied and picked up my new glock 19. To sum it up, i applied for the permit last wednesday, the secretary at the office called me the morning of thursday to go over the info and she submitted it, FTC called me this morning to go over the exact reason why i needed the cert and got the call that it was approved this afternoon. Not too bad but hopefully soon ill have my CHP so i wont have to do that again but for any members that had questions about that process i hope this answers a lot of them.
