Pelosi: WE dont need to vote on it!

Post by GS78 »

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate's health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed.

The tactic -- known as a "self-executing rule" or a "deem and pass" -- has been commonly used, although never to pass legislation as momentous as the $875 billion health-care bill. It is one of three options that Pelosi said she is considering for a late-week House vote, but she added that she prefers it because it would politically protect lawmakers who are reluctant to publicly support the measure.

"It's more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know," the speaker said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday. "But I like it," she said, "because people don't have to vote on the Senate bill."

Yes it is and for her to even consider that type ofoption shows what a danger she truly is to this country. It is definitely in our best interests to let the incumbants know that if the tactic is used and they make no move to stop it, they too are political toast irregardless of their position on the bill

so dislike that ...that....thing....
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

It was stated on the tube last night that if she does make this historically stupid move it well could be the one that lights the match to the dynamite of new revolution.

The United States is great because of how it was founded and how our laws and rights were drafted and instituted by our founding members. Kids should pay attention in school to history, because our history tells the story of how we became a great nation and how our leaders drafted the documents that would serve to protect our rights and freedoms. This sets us apart and different from other countries and nations that do not do as good of a job running their business and governing their citizens correctly. Over the years, we have allowed other out-siders to come here (some legally and some illegally). Most of them flood in to our country to escape their own countries, because of the conditions in those countries. The crazy part is when these people bring with them ideas, customs, and cultures from their homelands and force them upon us here in this country, and try to destroy the very greatness that attracted them to our country in the first place with the failed ideas, customs and culture that they fled from! This current government and their idea of socialized healthcare and redistribution of wealth with higher taxes and everything else is exactly what we fought against in the past (history) both at home and abroad. Now with this changing face of our country with all these liberals and new foreign immigrants, we are looking down the barrel of way of government that we once fought wars against!

I tell you what it's gonna light my revolution if she makes this move. I'm not an activist (mostly too busy) but I will literally carve hours off my work week to rally & riot (so to speak, not actually riot) against this political back room corruption.

You'll see me on the news with a big sign that says "STOP F***ING WITH MY COUNTRY B*TCH".

Originally I had a more planned and insightful approach to my sign verbiage, but decided sensationalism is the only thing that gets through to people anymore. A 20-page thesis would be ignored and nobody would have the patience to read it entirely anyway.

Sort of like how Obama doesn't have the patience to read the bills he is championing...

Anyway, I'm contemplating saving up for a political billboard in Richmond if anybody wants to chip in. $1300 a month to send a big 40'x20' F-YOU to the government.

Might be good advertising for the forum

DC Gun Rights Examiner Mike Stollenwerk makes an interesting point in his latest article. Pelosi could use her magical "Jedi mind trick" to pass laws affecting gun owners just as easy as she is trying to cram down health care reform.

(I couldn't resist bringing something firearm related to this topic)

Pelosi is going to do this folks...remember that when you think about them screwing around with state election laws before the mid-terms. They are in power and drunk with it. They will stop at nothing to stay in office - for the good of the country of course.

I think she decided yesterday they dont need to do the deem and pass. I'm guessing she's confident on the real vote or they would still be going this other unconstitutional route. Part of me wishes they would. Might make it easier to overturn later...
