New to NOVA Gun lube questions/shooting ranges

I'm concerned about the temperatures in NOVA and want to be sure that the lube i'm using won't gum up the action when it gets cold.
I currently use:
1.Break Free CLP
2.Tetra Gun Grease

2nd question, Firing ranges.....

Do I seriously have to drive to MD to shoot somewhere that doesn't charge an "annual" fee plus hourly rage usage fees, plus ammo purchase?
Maybe some not so "private" gun clubs or sportsmans clubs or even county owned outdoor ranges or whatever.. I don't mind paying for usage fees, but seriously, annual "memberships" PLUS hourly range fees?

Only found 1 range that charges 15 bux a day for usage and doesn't make you buy their overpriced ammo..

Depending on where you are in NOVA there are several choices where you can shoot your own ammo. East side is Sharpshooters. West side is NRA and a couple of others. Where are you located? IMHO going to MD is not a good option merely to save a couple of bucks.

Almost forgot, unless you're shooting outside for a long time you probably dont need to worry. I use rem oil on my pistols and it works fine. And you dont need to put alot. I use the spray bottle and either spray a little on and wipe it off or just spray a little on my cleaning cloth.

Interesting. I use Hoppes #9 as a cleaner, and then Break Free CLP for lube. What do you use for lubrication? I didn't think Hoppes #9 was good for that.

If you clean your guns enough and stay close to your loved one often then they dont need the perfume...

I spend my trigger time at Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn, VA.

They have a one time $100 initiation fee, and $35/month (or $45/month) fee for unlimited range time (in 1 hr. blocks). It's $25/hour for hourly rate. If you shoot more than twice a month then it easily pays for itself.

It all depends on your location, and being in the DC metro area is a curse. I'd venture a guess that our friends in rural Virginia don't have nearly the trouble finding places to shoot.

(edit: oh, and I use Hoppes solvent and lubricant as well. I shoot a SIG which endorses Mil-Comm TW-25B lubricant, but I haven't tried it yet.)

I see this topic is somewhat dated but I wanted to post this link to Blueridge Arsenal. It is 20.00 per hour. If you join there is an annual fee plus monthly. Age 62 and over pay a flat fee. Bring your own or rent theirs. It is in Chantilly.

Sharpshooters is a fine range for anything in a pistol caliber. That means your levergun in .454 Casull is quite welcome there. Same for shotguns; both shot and slugs are OK there. Steel-cased bullets (not the shell, just the bullets, e. g. certain Wolf or Brown Bear ammo) is a no-go, as are any rifle calibers, due to backstop limitations.

The annual fee is $245 for unlimited range time. Non-member range time is $20/hour. If you do a lot of handgun work, the annual membership is a great value.

I've been to Blue Ridge, and I gotta say, they seem kinda "I can kick your a**" to people. Can't say I care for that attitude. The folks at Sharpshooters don't do that. Way nicer.
