Maybe we can do it at a local Starbucks as a show of support.

Re: Any Plans for a Meet and Greet Soon?
If anyone wants to meet up in Culpeper I have a farm where we can shoot. There is a Five Guys Burgers and Fries in town where I have open carried before. The farm is about 150 acres and has been abandoned for a long time. There isn't a range set up but I shoot there often and usually set up some targets with tomato stakes and cardboard. I have written permission from the property owner and would be happy to share some shooting time with VGOF members. We can meet up at Five Guys, have lunch and then go shooting. There is a Wal Mart in town if anyone needs ammo or targets. It is only about 1 hour from N. VA and 1 hour from Charlottesville. Let me know if you all want to set up a meet and greet before we go to Sgt Bill's.

Re: Any Plans for a Meet and Greet Soon?
I don't have a range finder but there is one area where we could shoot at least 250 yds possibly longer. There is an old abandoned house that has a shooting rest that looks out over a field. That area could probably handle 300-400 yd shots with a little brush clearing. If anyone wanted there are also plenty of ground hogs that need shooting. Once we get a decent size group of people interested I will start a new thread with a date and sign up list.

How about March 27th(Saturday) as a date? That's a week from this Saturday. If this is too little notice for most we can shoot for the second or third Saturday in April. Let's get a consensus on the date and then I will start a new thread with someone's help that has a sign up list.

For your SA there is already a shoot and greet at Staunton (Hite Hollow) on the 28th Sunday. You might want to figure that into the date. Some folks might not have enough time to attend both but want too.firstcavapache64 wrote:How about March 27th(Saturday) as a date? That's a week from this Saturday. EDIT: I just checked the calendar and there is no shoot and greet at Staunton on the 28th. I could have sworn there was. Anyone else know?
EDIT 2: Ok there IS an shoot and greet in Staunton on 28 March. Its just not on the calendar. Heres the thread...

The 27th works great as the SO will be off visiting the great Aunt. Are well behaved teenagers (16yo) welcome?

Re: Any Plans for a Meet and Greet Soon?
Any age is welcome as long as strict gun safety is followed. My 15 year old son will be coming and possibly his buddy. Both of them have hunted with me as well as spent time at the range. I have never had a group bigger than 5 at the farm so if anyone has range safety experience ie NRA certification maybe they can help set the range up and we can have a safety brief before anyone loads their weapon. The fun thing about the farm is we can shoot whatever you want to bring. We have shot cans, old computer monitors, clay pigeons... whatever. Also if you want to draw from concealment to practice there is no rule that says you can't. I usually bring my AR 15 and AR180 as well as my .17 HMR, Glock model 30, Ruger P89, Taurus .327 Federal Magnum and if anyone wants to bring a clay pigeon thrower we can blast some skeet with shot guns. I have two target stands that I made with tomato stakes and some pizza boxes but if anyone has target stands feel free to bring them.

Groundhogs you say...this should take care of them: http://vagunforum.net/your-hardware/cus ... t4152.html
Have to steal the scope off the .50bmg though. The 27th sounds great to me.
Need to build up some loads for it...guess I'll be busy this week.

Re: Any Plans for a Meet and Greet Soon?
That is a beautiful rifle. I don't want to be a groundhog with that on field. My son and I usually just shoot them as targets of opportunity with either my .17 HMR , the Bushmaster .223 or the Armalite AR180. 55 grain HP's do a good job with proper shot placement but your rounds will probably vaporize them. The farm entrance is hard to find so I think it would be best to meet in town. I think Five Guys Burgers and Fries is a good spot to meet up. It's 2 minutes away from Wal Mart in Culpeper so if anyone needs last minute ammo, targets or gear they can hit Wally world before the meeting time. We can set a time to meet for those that want to have lunch and then a time to leave so if you don't want to eat you can meet up with the group after lunch. The farm is about 10 minutes away from Five Guys and it is right off of Route 29 so it should be a good central point for most of us. We can exchange cell numbers and caravan to the farm. That way if anyone gets separated from the group they can call me and I can get them to the entrance. The road is gravel to a certain point and then it gets muddy. We can share space with anyone that doesn't have a truck. Depending on what everyone wants to shoot and the distances there are several areas of the farm we can use. Let me know what kind of shooting you all want to do and I will try to pick the best spot. We can do anything from 25 yard pistol shooting to 300-400 yard rifle shooting. The long distance area might need a little brush clearing but it shouldn't be much work. I think this will be a lot of fun and a great chance to get to know you guys.

Re: Any Plans for a Meet and Greet Soon?
I have started a sign up thread in the meet and greet forum with details and directions. If you can't make it to this one I am willing to play host anytime. Maybe after Sgt Bill's weekend we can set up another trip in July or August. I really enjoy shooting with a group and I know it can be hard to find a place to shoot other than ranges where you have to pay.
