For a year, the British army, under Gen. Thomas Gage, had occupied Boston. Pressed by the ministry in London to quell rebellion by arresting Samuel Adams and John Hancock, Gage chose instead to take away the patriots’ arms supply in Concord. But incompetence and miscalculation doomed what he meant to be a limited, routine operation. Gage depended on secrecy to seize the arms before the people of Concord could resist, but Boston knew of the operation before his troops left, and the arms at Concord were soon hidden. Couriers Paul Revere and William Dawes notified Adams and Hancock in Lexington that the British were on their way. Mix-ups delayed the British departure for hours, giving the colonists more time to prepare. ....
"The tea party", had something to do with the hostilities between the colonies and the British Empire, but was NOT the main reason the foghting started as history shows, Boston was OCCUPIED for at least a year before the events at Lexington that started the Revolutionary War. Most people were a little pissed about the taxes, but they were "going along to get along" It was not until THE CONFISCATION OF ARMS!!!! that the colonists stood their ground and fought against TYRANNY.

Reviewing the wealth of information we now have available to us enhances our ability to be more objective than the historians of earlier generations. The facts regarding the skirmish on Lexington Common, as reported by the participants and eye witnesses are as follows General Sir Thomas Gage, Commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's Forces in North America ordered Lt. Colonel Frances Smith to lead an expedition of some eight hundred men from Boston to Concord. The objective was to capture the military stores hidden in Concord.
Now, you can lock this thread too, we are participating in a DISCUSSION on a "discussion board", at least thats what I thought. We are not making war plans, but it seems to me that some here eager to "talk a big game" about the evils of Political Correctness, but fold like a house of cards at the mention of opposition to what we are discussing here. History proves me correct. Do your homework, when confiscation begins,( and I'm not convinced it will ever happen here) it is the last step to complete control over the commoners. READ A HISTORY BOOK. We can not practice for this scenario, the way we can practice for an armed intruder in our own homes. We can only discuss THEORIES
....... if we can not do that, we might as well just turn over our arms and capitulate.
