Since I've done so good turkey hunting here in Virginia ( I haven't got one YET ) I'm taking a trip to Pennsylvania to see if I can not get one there.
I just got off the phone with my nephew and he tells me the birds are gobbling like crazy up in the mountains, he also said they have Jack Daniels on tap. So I'm leaving first thing in the AM. It's a four hundred mile drive to where we hunt in northern Pa. I'll be up there for four or five days.
If any of you folks that live in northern Va. see an old beat up man, driving an old beat up Chevy 4x4 pick up north on rt 81 it's more than likely me.
He calls and said unck you better get up here quick, we are over run with birds, Obama is getting ready to declare this a national emergency.
I have no choice I have to go, it's for the good of the country.
You all hold the fort down here in Virginia.

Re: A Hunting Trip
Good luck Bob! Bring us back some good pictures of you sitting next to the Jack Daniels tapper with a gobbler between your legs! (No pun intended!)
Re: A Hunting Trip
I'll do the very best that I can.

Re: A Hunting Trip
Good luck Bob
You didn't have to drive that far, Iv'e got 4 gobbling behind the house here.

Re: A Hunting Trip
I'm back in Virginia, I had rain all the way down Rt 81, driving was a lot of fun.
Here is a picture of a gobbler I shot in the Pa. mountains, I know it was way over 20 lbs, no scale, so I couldn't get a weight, the beard is 10.5', and the spurs are 1.25, so it is a nice bird.
Note: always take a camera with you so you don't have to embarrass relatives that live in sub divisions, and possibly upset their neighbors who may be PETA people.
The quest for the giant turkey continues.

Re: A Hunting Trip
No hunting for me today, it's wet and nasty out and I'm tired, so here I am messing around on this computer. I guess I'm turning into a wussie in my old age.
I'll be out again tomorrow if I can get my butt out of bed in the AM.

10 1/2" beard is a good bird anywhere.
All my birds developed a case of lockjaw last weekend, never heard a gobble but did call in a hen.
Good luck this weekend Bob.

Re: A Hunting Trip
Thanks, I haven't heard a gobble this week, it could be the crappy weather.
I hope the sun shines for the next few days.
Good Luck to you too Vahunter, I still have to get that Virginia bird.
