Nothing says it quite as good as this. I post this because I feel that it is a travesty that my wife went through the immigration process the Legal way and now they want to give all of the illegal immigrants amnesty.
President Theodore Roosevelt, 1919
"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who
comes here in good faith becomes an American and
assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact
equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to
discriminate against any such man because of creed, or
birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's
becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an
American...There can be no divided allegiance here! Any
man who says he is an American, but something else also,
isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the
American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which
symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as
much as it excludes any foreign flag …....We have room for
but one language here, and that is the English language....
and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is
a loyalty to the American people."

I Agree fully and would like to also add: BEWARE of Chuck Schumer(NY) and Lindsey Graham(SC) and their "National Work ID card " these 2 libtards are trying to sell this as a good idea for detecting illegals while literally forcing a National ID card on the rest of us..

I thought we have a Nation ID - isn't it that thing called a "Passprot" that all legal, U.S. Citizens can get rather easily (with planning)? Or, do we need to do another "end around" of the Constitution and appoint a National ID Czar who will institute (under the Patriot Act) a second, wait third ( forgot about your Social Security Card - no, wait - also draft registration card, oh and Military ID where applicable) ID card with a fee attached (no doubt $20 - $25 a pop) and will waste an day of my life going to get?
Just, freaking, yay.

Re: Just a Point on the upcoming immigration Bill
kaosdad, We've never had anything close to a national ID card and it's benn resisted as we would a foreign invasion everytime the idea's been broached. Some try to equate the now almost-mandatory SS card as that but it has no official standing. Women seem not to carry draft cards, although there are those of uncertain gender who do. Passports are voluntary, not universal, and the only "countries" I know of that at least used to require them were the USSR and the Republic of South Africa, where subjects needed them to move about WITHIN the country.
Yessir, if the stasi or the gendarmes demand one's "papers" one need only tell him to take a look at the map and earn where he is before he shoves off. It's all the same principle as the Second Amendment, dad.

The national ID card is a red herring. Notice in the news that you cant find anything else concerning immigration reform other than the ID card and a 21 March rally. You have to look really close to see anything about amnesty.
Not saying that the national ID card is a good thing but its being thrown out as bait since the administration knows the right is against it and hoping to keep our focus on that rather than the bigger dilemma of amnesty.

Sorry - perhaps I should have used <sarc> tags? My point was that a "National ID" programme is just another way to add a layer of beauro, beuroc, buroc....GOVERNMENT and, let's face it, tax to an already bloated & over taxed system. ANyway - your point is taken & I appreciate your input & time.
