Unsportsmanlike conduct at Nations Gun Show in Chantilly
Unsportsmanlike conduct at Nations Gun Show in Chantilly
I just got home a little while ago from the Dulles Expo Center gun show.
I tell you. The line waiting outside was the longest I have ever seen. If you were facing the building, it stretched off to the left, went up the service road toward the back of the building, and then turned the corner behind the building.
I went in in front of most of those in that line, as I signed up for an NRA membership and got my hand stamped. So I must have gotten in there no later than 5 minutes after opening. I headed straight for the table that sells almost exclusively Federal ammo, and it was ALREADY completely surrounded. There was a tall guy with short light colored hair wearing glasses and a bluish gray t-shirt. He was behind the tables talking to one of the sellers.
Even though the signs on this vendor's table CLEARLY say, NO DEALERS, this tool bought EVERY SINGLE CASE of 9mm FMJ 115grain. There was something like 40 or 50 cases he bought. Didn't leave a darn box for anyone else. People were getting really annoyed, and someone asked him if he was a dealer, and he said "He's my cousin"
Nice. If he's your cousin, how about you arrange a private sale somewhere OUTSIDE the show, so the folks who come there for one or two cases ON THE FIRST DAY, FIVE MINUTES AFTER OPENING have a chance at getting some.
So if you're the guy who cleaned them out, effectively screwing the rest of us, thanks a lot, tool.

Every gun show I've been to in the last few months has been that way. 2 in Richmond and 1 in Fredericksburg, any table that sold ammo was either swamped or empty of ammo. I've been lucky in that I have been able to find everything I've wanted lately, maybe not in the quantity I wanted but I have found some of it.

I decided not to hassle the ammo lines as I have been hoarding for about the last 5 years, and bought a Saiga 12 gauge instead.

You would think the vendor would enforce the 'no dealers' rule, and maybe set a 2 case limit on ammo or something. It's not like he's going to have trouble selling it all in this climate, after all.
This makes me glad I didn't go to this show. The odds of finding the exact holster I want were probably slim (just how many leftie holsters do you see at these things, anyhow?), and I'm OK on ammo as far as immediate needs.

Re: Unsportsmanlike conduct at Nations Gun Show in Chantilly
i felt fortunate to get the ammo that i did. remington 9mm 500rds for 160. that's 16$ a box and well-worth it. i purchased it from the guy in the back basically in the middle. the place was surrounded, several people deep, and i got 2 of the last 4 boxes of 500rds of remington 9mm that he had. literally, within an hour and a half, almost all the cases were gone. the only piles that remained stayed there on saturday and sunday for the most part. come on 1,000rds of 223 for $600?
about a half an hour later i found wolf 9mm for 11 a box and bought that too.
that show was NUTS. the only practice 9mm in the entire place on sunday was being sold for 22.95 a box, for federal. there's a reason he still had that stuff for sale.
oh yeah, and 380 was $65 per box, and they kept the boxes behind a glass case in the back, near the bathrooms.

I went to the range yesterday and bought 6 boxes of Lawman (crap) and nearly needed to change my underwear when they rang me up at the register. I am not poor, but will be if I keep going through ammo the way that I do.
With all of the forums I have been on and all of the threads discussing the shortage, has anyone thought up of any dry-fire drills?

With today's modern, "real" airsoft guns on the market you can still practice the vast majority of your drills at less than the cost of 1/2 a case of 9mm. There is a version of just about any real gun out there. The weight is almost identical and most fit your standard holsters for speed drills. Not a panacea, but definitely an option.00BUSA wrote:I went to the range yesterday and bought 6 boxes of Lawman (crap) and nearly needed to change my underwear when they rang me up at the register. You should checkout Airsoft Atlanta (I checked AIG's website before naming names). There are many others, but I have purchased from them and find they have high quality products.

I wish I had seen AIG before I bought out at the Manassas Airsoft HQ or whatever they are called. I bought a HK USP version. Very sweet.
I will check out AIG tonight. Thanks for the heads up.
