Reloading lead vs plated?

I started reloading this year, and have mostly used plated bullets from Rainier and Berrys, both of which I like. My motivation to reloading lead instead of plated is $$$ - translated into shooting more for less $$$. My rounds are primarily for plinking at the range, and the occasional local IDPA match. I'm wondering if there is any reason why reloading plated is better than lead and why I shouldnt switch? I realize there are some additional things to look out for when reloading lead, which shouldnt be an issue. I've also read that given normal loads, leading shouldnt be an issue. I do understand the lead smokes a little more, I do shoot at some indoor ranges so not sure if that will be an issue.

Just wondering what you experieced reloaders think?

To keep leading to a minimal you need to keep the velocity down. I use mild loads in my .45 with lead bullets and leading isn't much of an issue.

If your cast bullets are the correct size for your cyclinder throats or barrel, assuming the barrel is free copper fouling, you should be able to use jacketed bullet loading data without leading.
Most commercial casters are one to two thousandth under sized.
