Post by allingeneral »

It's official! Scott Brown (R-MA) will take his seat in the United States Senate to fill the seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy.

Congratulations to Senator-elect Brown! Now let's stop the health care debacle!

Leads one to wonder if seniority was the only reason Teddy kept getting voted back in.

Another ray of hope for America. Reid said in a news article that Brown will be seated immediately. I wonder what the liberals have up their sleeve for health care. The next few days are going to be very interesting to watch.

Congratulations to Scott and his family AND most of all to the voters of Mass. Way to go!!!!

Well I will say he is better than the democrat puppet that might have won. Brown is closer to Jack Kennedy than Ronald Reagan though, and we need to understand that his opposition to Obamacare is not its constitutionality, its the fact that Massachusetts already has a form of this type of socialism, and he said why would he vote for something that gives no benefit to HIS state? In reality he is more of a rhino, than a conservative so although it definitely was a "historic" win, it was so for massachusetts not necessarily the rest of the nation. Congrats are due him and his campaign for using the tea party enthusiasm and energy to beat Coakly, that was pretty clever.

no doubt. I hope he does well. I will say so far I have heard some pretty sheepish dems on the morning cable news shows, havent heard anything from the wicked witch yet? I did see a picture of her on drudge, if that crawled up in my yard even in low light, it would scare the hell out of me.......I think she is a zombie......for real.

He also sent a powerful message to the incumbents around the country that the voters are not taking any BS anymore... His election does give some breathing room from that hell bent on destruction agenda that Reid,Pelsi and Obama are determined to shove down our throats. Very possibly he is a RINO but he's got a couple years to show what he's got. The state of MA is finally free of the Kennedy stranglehold after 40 plus years and the voters need to be congratulated for their commitment to take their state back. I found it odd that Webb was one of the first ones to say all votes should be put on hold till he is sworn in....Hmmmmm, Maybe he knew pushing the vote would be the final nail in the Dimocrats coffin...

Forgot to add that it's sweet poetic justice that a Republican came along and took over the seat that the Liberal Loser held onto for so long. A salute to the voters in MA

How long does it take for a Massachusetts weasel to fall in step with the Washington D.C. political machine?.

Less than 30 days. Can you say RINO?

THought the same thing myself,, He looked a little too cozy standing next to the Senates official crybaby ( The old fart from Nevada). Maybe he got the "Stick with me kid and you'll go places speech" Not a good first step for this guy.In the New England area there is a term of endearment used for particular folks from MA,, Can't say it outright here without offending someone but it starts with an M and then add the name of a particular body orifice and there you have it. Any of these so called jobs bills are all BS and pork. It makes for great political theater though,,, And it;s a lot like breeding elephants.. Takes a long time and is noisy as hell while it happens. November can't get here fast enough...

Part of me agrees and the other part says give the guy a chance. Long way until he's up for re-election.

Although I was a bit harsh on the man, I do agree that he needs to get settled first then wait and see how he does.. He has been taking a lot of protest from the people who helped him get elected with donations and such.. I hope it wasn't due to being in awe of Senator Reid and the whole Washington experience..Seems to me anyway that he picked the wrong way to start out. These so called jobs bills are just more pork and theft of taxpayer money.Until we get our manafacturing base back no amount of "Bills" is going to provide the jobs the private sector needs to get the economy going...

I agree Spence. Harry reid is quite the rock star now. I'm hoping to see him and pelosi go down in November. Reid for sure will but pelosi will most likely get re-elected unless she leaves SF and tries to run elsewhere.

Ever heard of "the big dig"? It was one of teddy kennedy's money grabs for his Massachusetts Union buddies.

The Big Dig was the most expensive highway project in the U.S.[2] Although the project was estimated in 1985 at $2.8 billion (in 1982 dollars, US$6.0 billion adjusted for inflation as of 2006[update]),[3] over $14.6 billion ($8.08 billion in 1982 dollars)[3] had been spent in federal and state tax dollars as of 2006[update].[4] A July 17, 2008 article in The Boston Globe stated, "In all, the project will cost an additional $7 billion in interest, bringing the total to a staggering $22 billion, according to a Globe review of hundreds of pages of state documents. It will not be paid off until 2038 ,did you ever watch the Sopranos? when they had jobs working at some construction site, only they didn't actually work. They just showed up, sat around and played cards and got payed.....well they probably got that storyline from the big dig....Brown is a massachusetts politician, he is just a little smarter because he used the tea party energy to his benefit , something that will be played out all over the country this fall. I remember when arnold ran for kalifornia gov, republicans were actually talking about his chances for president even though he was not born here, I bet they are kicking themselves now... the only way a dem can win is to cover him/herself with republican fur long enough for the sheep to fall back asleep.

So many of these politicians feel compelled to support their constituency enough to get re-elected and keep their j-o-b (read - public office should not be a job).

Solution - term limits AND some kind of rule, law, whatever that says EVERY piece of legislation considered must pass the Constitution test. In other words, politicians should look first at a proposed bill to see if its Constitutional. If not, its scrapped before they even think if they should support or not - OR - what the people would want. If its not Constitutional I'm thinking even if the people want it - it should be scrapped. Some of you might disagree with this last bit but I think it merits some deep thought.
